The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Chantada (20-3) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Marin (19-4) 87-79. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of Chantada. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Marin made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Chantada helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American guard Zach Monaghan (188-1992, college: MSU) who led his team to a victory with 28 points. Dutch forward Kevin van Wijk (203-1989, college: Valpo) contributed with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Important game to mention about took place in La Linea. Eleventh ranked Murgi (8-13) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging second-best Oh!Tels ULB (14-8) 63-60 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Lithuanian guard Povilas Bileisis (192-1990) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and Bernardo Gimenez who added 6 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Argentinian-Italian Leandro Furlan (193-1993) with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Murgi moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Unicaja-Andalucia. Oh!Tels ULB at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. They share it with Benidorm and UAF Lucentum. Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Madrid: Real Madrid 2 (#1) and Zentro Basket (#6). Santurtzi dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Mondragon's 26.
