The Regular Season in EBA is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 5 rounds. The round was exceptionally exciting as four games ended with a tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Top ranked Santfeliuenc (18-4) recorded its fourth loss in Barcelona on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by seventh ranked SESE (11-11) 86-79. SESE shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. 25 personal fouls committed by Santfeliuenc helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was power forward Alberto Reyes (195-1990) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Victor Sanchez chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. SESE's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Jaume Zanca (195-1997) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. SESE moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Santfeliuenc at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. They share it with Marin. SESE is looking forward to face higher ranked Roser (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santfeliuenc will play against the league's second-placed Barca 2 (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was played in Santander between fourth ranked Bilbao and 5th ranked Cantbasket where Bilbao (13-9) crushed Cantbasket (12-10) on the road with 22-point difference 90-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cantbasket. Swingman Unai Barandalla (193-2002) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 6 rebounds. Inigo Betolaza contributed with 14 points and 8 assists for the winners. American power forward Cordell Pemsl (203-1997, college: Virginia Tech) answered with 14 points and 7 rebounds for Cantbasket. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bilbao moved-up to third place, which they share with 5 other teams. Cantbasket at the other side dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Bilbao will play against Easo (#7) in San Sebastian in the next round. Cantbasket will play on the road against Valladolid and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Sixth-ranked Mataro Parc (12-10) made lots of trouble for third ranked Llucmajor (17-3) on Saturday. The visitors from Llucmajor managed to secure only two-point victory 66-64. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mataro Parc. It was a great evening for Antoni Vicens who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 9 rebounds. Javier Rodriguez responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Llucmajor have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain third place with 17-3 record having 2 victories less than leader Huelva CD. Loser Mataro Parc keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with 5 other teams.
