EUROCUP
George Conditt IV (ASP Promitheas Patras) Is A Rim Protector Now But Wants To be Able To Guard 1-5 - by Miles Schmidt-Scheuber
George Conditt IV (208-C-2000, college: Iowa St.) is a 22 year old 208cm from Chicago that completed his rookie season in Greece for ASP Promitheas Patras (Greece-GBL) averaging 7.6ppg, 4.2rpg, 2FGP: 63.4%, FT: 61.8%; in the Eurocup and in the GBL averaged: 9.8ppg, 6.3rpg, 1.1bpg, 2FGP: 69.2%, FT: 62.1%, . He began his basketball career at Corliss high school. He then played at Iowa State University from2018.2022 playing a total of 117 NCAA games. In the summer of 2022 he played :NBA Summer League with the Minnesota Timberwolves averaging 2.5ppg, 3.0rpg. He then got his first pro experience with Gigantes de Carolina (BSN) averaging 11.8ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.4apg, Blocks-3 (1.6bpg), FGP: 57.0%, 3PT: 25.5%, FT: 62.3%. He spoke to eurobasket during the Eurocup season before a game against the Hamburg Towers.

Thanks George for talking to eurobasket.com. You played a Eurocup against the Hamburg Towers. What do you know in general about Germany and it's country? Have you had any ex teammates play in Germany?

I don't know much about Germany. I've never been to Germany, so this is my first time entering the country, other than going through its different airports. I do have a few ex-teammates that do play in Germany currently, one being Nick Weiler-Babb and the other being Solomon Young. They both are doing really well with their prospective teams and I root for them and cheer for them every time I can!

You must always have good memories of Germany because you had your breakout game in the Eurocup with 22 points?

I did have a very good game against Hamburg and I guess you can consider it a breakout game for me but I felt like this game was just me going out there and trying to show everyone that I can play!

You played your rookie season overseas for ASP Promitheas Patras (Greece-GBL). What kind of an experience was it playing in Greece? I can imagine it's the warmest winter that you have had in years?

Playing in this league in Greece I have already learned a lot. This is a very physical league but a very intellectual league as well so I feel like this is really helping me as a rookie overseas learn and develop my game a little bit faster and it definitely is one of the warmest winters I've had in a very long time.

What was it like being teammates with so many nationalities? Was there been one player that really helped you out most getting adjusted to overseas ball?

It's different because everybody has their own background, but I feel like playing fiba international basketball has helped me because I have friends on other national teams and their cultures are completely different from mine. As far as there being one player, I would say the coaches help me the most. They help me understand the game more so watching films and breaking down the game.

What memories will you always have from playing your first game against an Euroleague team with Olympiacos? You lost by 28 points but held your own with 10/9 stats. Did a game like this prove you could play with the best?

I would say I tried my best. That team is a really really good team and that's why they play Euroleague, but I feel like it was just one step to proving to myself that I can but I still have a lot to learn and get better at before I will play at that level.

Let's talk a bit about your game. You're a 208cm center. If you had to compare your game to an NBA player who would it be?

I don't really like to compare myself to other players, but if you would have to say what similarities do I have to a current NBA player? It would have to be a younger version of Domantas Sabonis! Because now his game is more polished. It's more crisp, but the younger version of him was still learning a lot and trying to polish those parts of his game!

You can score, rebound and block shots well. What other strengths does your game have?

I can pass the ball. I did quite well at doing that at Iowa State my last year being one of the highest assisting big men in the nation.

Your shot blocking really takes center stage. What kind of defender are you now and what kind of defender do you want to become in the next few years?

I want to be a defender that is able to guard one through five. I want to be able to switch. I want to be able to hold my own on the perimeter. Obviously I need to get stronger so I can be more physically defensively down low but I guess as of right now you can call me a rim protector.

What has been the biggest adjustment for you on the court and what was your wake up call to being a rookie in Greece where you knew that you were far away from home?

My biggest adjustment was the style of play. It's completely different from the way Basketball is played in the states so that is something I really had to adjust to and I'm still learning right now, but I'm gradually getting better at it. And a wake up, call was one of the games I had to sit on the bench because I just wasn't in tune with the game. So I realize that I needed to learn and develop to this playing style.

What do you believe is a hidden strength in your game that doesn't get noticed right away?

A big thing that people don't notice about me is that I can stretch the floor unfortunately I'm not stretching the floor with my team right now and I haven't been shooting in practice so it's been more centered around the rim but if you go back and watch any of my time with the Puerto Rican national team you will see I can obviously shoot the ball.

What area of your game are you working on most now as a rookie so you can continue to improve your game?

I could say that spacing the floor is something I'm working on the most but like I said right now I'm not working on that. I am working on becoming comfortable on the court with this playing style.

Last summer you had the experience to play in your home land Puerto Rico for Gigantes de Carolina (BSN, starting five): 25 games: 11.8ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.4apg, Blocks-3 (1.6bpg), FGP: 57.0%, 3PT: 25.5%, FT: 62.3%. What kind of an experience was it? What did you cherish most about this time?

Being able to play, there was an amazing experience, and it kind of helped me adjust to overseas life, living alone, taking care of yourself as a professional athlete, making sure you were eating the right things and doing enough to keep your body healthy.

What kind of an experience was it being teammates with Tremont Waters. I can imagine you guys hooked up on many occasions for buckets?

Having a teammate like Tremont Waters was the best thing I could've asked for coming out of college. He is a person that has so much experience within this game at a young age. I consider Tre like one of my brothers. I still check up on him and what he's doing in Paris and vice versa.

After Puerto Rico, you played NBA Summer League with the Minnesota Timberwolves playing 4 games averaging 2.5ppg, 3.0rpg. How tough was it not playing much? There seems to be huge competition between the guys who aren't really on the radar of the NBA team for minutes?

It definitely was tough not being able to play as much as I wanted to, but I took this as a learning step, and tried to learn as much as I could from this organization. I tried to become a sponge taking in as much knowledge as I could!

You played at Iowa State from 2018-2022. How tough was it coming from Corliss where you had incredible stats to never averaging more than 16 minutes in a season?

I love Iowa State. I will never speak badly of Iowa State unfortunate that I was never able to play to my full potential but man I had some great years some bad years looking back I wish I would've been able to play to my full potential!

What memories do you have from that freshman team that won the Big 12 title? You had future NBA players with Tyrese Haliburton, Marial Shayok, Talen Horton -Tucker and Lindell Wiggington not to mention Nick Weiler Babb. What player from this group made the biggest impression on you?

My freshman year was amazing. We had a great team and one of the most talented teams at Iowa State. Unfortunately it was cut short. You know we weren't able to make a good run in the tournament but being around those guys I learned a lot from all of them, and all of those names that you just listed are etched in the memories of cyclone fans for being able to accomplish what we accomplished!

You had many great games in the NCAA but where does your 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks in the win over Seton Hall rank for you?

Seton Hall was definitely one of my favorite games but if I had to say my favorite game it would be my very last game and Iowa State jersey in the sweet 16 in my hometown of Chicago that right there that night it sucked losing but being able to play in front of my family, all of them was an amazing experience.

Who won a 1-1 in practice you or Tristan Enaruna?

Who would win one on one between me and him would definitely have to say me. I don't care what Tristan says. That's my boy for life but Smoove, (his nickname) knows!!

You also play for the Puerto Rican national team. How is the state of basketball in Puerto Rico? In 2021 you reached the Olympic qualifying tournament

The state of Basketball and Puerto Rico is on an all time high. I personally believe there's so much Puerto Rican talent that we are going to continue to climb and climb! And yes, I did get the opportunity to compete in the Olympic qualifying tournament in 2021. Unfortunately we fell short at qualifying, but at that time I was 20 years old, playing against some of the best talent in the world learning so much at a young age I felt like that was the best thing for me and I had some of the best games in that tournament!

Who was the toughest player that you battled in the NCAA that reached the NBA?

I would have to say Jericho Sims of the New York Knicks definitely battled with him. I remember my freshman year. I played really really well against him but my sophomore year he got me good so he would have to be the best person matchup wise I played against that is currently in the NBA.

Please name your 5 best teammates of all-time?

Tyrese Haliburton , Tremont Waters, Tre Jackson Solomon Young, Talen Horton-Tucker Honorable mention, Sheldon Mac

Please list your personal NBA Mount Rushmore of past or present heads?

Jordan Kobe Shaq Kareem

What is your personal opinion of the neverending debate of who is the greatest of all-time Jordan or Lebron and why isn't Kobe mentioned more?

It's going to forever be a never ending debate, and personally I believe Kobe should be mentioned more but it's hard to debate about the greatest of all time with a player who is not playing anymore and a player who is currently playing still because the current player still adding more accolades, still adding more stuff while the player that is not playing anymore is already set in stone. So personally, I believe that the debate won't end until LeBron is done.

Did you see the sequel to the classic Coming To America? Shouldn't they have left it alone?

The sequel to coming to America was more of a comedy sequel. I feel like it was a cool movie! It wasn't bad, but it wasn't a movie that can live up to its prequel.

They need more victories to improve their 18-16 record. In the team's last game Dallo had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. It's his second year at Cholet and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Boris Dallo averages this season 9.8ppg, 6.1rpg and 4.7apg.

The second best player in last round's games was young international power forward Yoan Makoundou (206-F/C-2000) of league's leader Monaco. Makoundou had a very good evening with a double-double of 31 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Monaco lost that game 76-102 to the lower-ranked Blois (#15, 14-20). Monaco managed to keep the same 1st spot in the standings. His team has currently 26-8 record. Makoundou is a newcomer at Monaco and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Monaco's star - Guinean forward Alpha Diallo (201-F-1997). Diallo scored 28 points and passed five assists. Despite Diallo's great performance Monaco lost 95-101 to the lower-ranked Le Mans (#6, 19-15). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. The last thing Monaco needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 26 victories and 8 lost games. Diallo has a very solid season. In 29 games in France he scored 11.2ppg. He also has 4.3rpg and FGP: 60.6%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Stephane Gombauld (205-PF-1997) of Nancy - 23 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Vince Edwards (203-F-1996) of Gravelines - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Shevon Thompson (213-C-1993) of Fos-sur-Mer - 16 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
7. DeVante Jones (186-G-1998) of Levallois - 21 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Victor Wembanyama (224-F-2004) of Levallois - 17 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Miralem Halilovic (205-F-1991) of Nanterre - 14 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists
10. Allan Dokossi (203-SF-1999) of Fos-sur-Mer - 15 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists

Jimmy Butler scores 27, Miami beats Boston 111-105 to take 2-0 lead in East finals - by Eurobasket News
Jimmy Butler (6'7''-G/F-1989, college: Marquette) went forehead-to-forehead with the Boston Celtics, and the Heat are heading back to Miami with an opportunity to advance to the NBA Finals. Butler scored 27 points, hitting back-to-back buckets to tie the game and give Miami the lead, and the eighth-seeded Heat left Boston with a 111-105 victory Friday night and a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference finals. Butler also provided eight rebounds, six assists and an emotional spark after Boston's Grant Williams (6'6''-F-1998, college: Tennessee) started jawing with him: Butler stared down Williams, with both players drawing technical fouls for the double head-butt. Then 'Jimmy Buckets' scored and scored some more - nine points in all during a 23-9 run that turned a nine-point deficit into a 105-100 lead. 'I knew that was going to be good for us,' said Caleb Martin (6'7''-F-1995, college: Nevada), who came off the bench to score 25 points. 'We'll take mad Jimmy at any time. You could kind of see it in his eyes he was ready to go after that.' Bam Adebayo (6'10''-C-1997, college: Kentucky) had 22 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists for Miami, which returns home with a chance to sweep and become just the second No. 8 seed to reach the NBA Finals. Game 3 is Sunday night. 'He's going to have to make every single tough shot the rest of the series,' Williams said. 'And I'm not going to turn and look otherwise because I respect him as an (expletive) player.' Jayson Tatum had 34 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists for Boston. But the Celtics star went 0 for 3 with two turnovers in the fourth quarter, when Boston blew an 89-77 lead en route to a second home loss in three nights. After finishing 13 games ahead of the Heat in the regular-season -- and then watching top-seeded Milwaukee fall to Miami in the first round -- the Celtics have stumbled on what appeared to be a clear path to their second straight NBA Finals. 'It's tough. It's a challenge. But there's no point being up here sad and (stuff),' Tatum said. 'They came in and won two games. They played well; you give them credit. But we're not dead or anything. We've got a great opportunity. I still have the utmost confidence. Everybody has the utmost confidence. We've just got to get ready for Game 3.' Jaylen Brown (6'6''-G/F-1996, college: California) scored 16 points on 7-for-23 shooting; he went 1 for 5 with a turnover in the final quarter, when Miami outscored Boston 36-22. 'We've got some dogs, and I love it. I love every bit of it,' Butler said on the postgame TV broadcast. 'Guys never quit. We never give up. We love playing with one another. We've got so much faith and trust in one another.' The Celtics led by 11 in the third quarter and made it a dozen early in the fourth. Williams made a 3-pointer to make it 96-87 and was talking to Butler on the way back down the court. Butler scored at the other end and was fouled by Williams; the two players leaned into each other - drawing double technicals - before Butler hit the ensuing free throw. 'Some healthy competition. I ain't going to lie to you. Healthy competition. And I love it. I'm always here to compete. I like to talk, at times,' Butler said. 'As long as we get the win, I'm good with it.' Asked if Boston 'poked the bear' by getting Butler angry, Brown said, 'Next question.' But Butler said there was no doubt that the attempt to get him off his game actually fired him up. 'Yes it did,' Butler said. 'But that's just competition at its finest. He hit a big shot and started talking to me. But I like that. It's just competition. It pushes that will to win. It makes me smile. ... I just don't know if I was the best person to talk to.' After Tatum missed from long distance - one of three missed 3s in the fourth quarter - Butler drove to the basket to make it a four-point Boston lead. Miami trailed 98-96 when Butler was called for an offensive foul, kicking Marcus Smart (6'4''-G-1994, college: OK State) after landing on a missed 3-pointer. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra challenged, but lost. Butler responded. He made a 17-footer to tie it 100-all, and then a short fadeaway to give Miami the lead. After Max Strus (6'6''-G-1996, college: DePaul) made one of two free throws, Adebayo scored on a putback dunk to make it 105-100 with less than a minute to play. 'I love that gnarly version of Jimmy,' Spoelstra said. 'But you get that regardless. I think now people are just paying more attention. ... Jimmy is just a real competitor.' Boston used a 21-2 run to turn an eight-point, first-quarter deficit into an 11-point lead.

Murray's big fourth quarter propels Nuggets past Lakers 108-103 for 2-0 lead in West finals - by Eurobasket News
After Nikola Jokic (7'0''-C-1995)'s monster game in the opener, his pick-and-roll partner Jamal Murray (6'4''-SG-1997, college: Kentucky) took the spotlight in the Western Conference finals Thursday night. Murray scored 23 of his 37 points in the fourth quarter, propelling the Denver Nuggets to a 108-103 come-from-behind win over the Los Angeles Lakers for a 2-0 lead in the series. 'He was special,' Jokic said. 'He won us the game basically.' Murray missed 12 of his 17 shots through three quarters but found his touch in the fourth, going 6 for 7, including four 3-pointers, and fueling a 15-1 run that gave Denver a 96-84 lead. 'He made shots at the end of the clock,' LeBron James lamented. 'We guard for 24 seconds and he made two big-time shots, one over (Anthony Davis (6'10''-C-1993, college: Kentucky)) and one over me. He had his 3-point shot going in the fourth. It's no surprise to me, he's done it before. Sometimes it's a never-miss league.' In all, Denver sank seven 3s in the fourth quarter after hitting seven all night. 'It would have been a lot easier if I had made them in the first half,' said Murray, who is still playing through an earache he hasn't been able to shake since Round 2. Jokic added 23 points, 17 rebounds and a dozen assists a day after ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters handed the Nuggets the no-respect card by acknowledging that she'd never seen the two-time MVP play before Game 1, when he had 34 points, 21 boards and 14 assists. 'For those that don't know him, he's got 13 playoff triple-doubles now,' Malone sneered after Game 2. 'It's just incredible what he continues to do on a nightly basis on the biggest stage in the world.' As for Jokic, he brushed off the slights on him and his teammates, saying, 'It's nothing new for us.' Malone was plenty miffed by the Lakers getting all the pub. 'You win Game 1 and all everybody talked about was the Lakers,' Malone said. 'Let's be honest, the national narrative was, 'Hey, the Lakers are fine. They're down 1-0, but they figured something out.' No one talked about how Nikola just had an historic performance. He's got 13 (playoff) triple-doubles now, third all-time. What he's doing is just incredible. 'But their narrative wasn't about the Nuggets. The narrative wasn't about Nikola. The narrative was about the Lakers and their adjustments. So you know, you put that in your pipe and you smoke it, you come back and you know what, we're gonna go up 2-0.' The Nuggets have never been this close to reaching the NBA Finals in their history. Game 3 is Saturday night at Crypto.com Arena, where James and the Lakers are 8-0 in the playoffs. Malone said he reminded Murray heading into the fourth quarter not to fret over his shooting woes but to focus on contributing in other ways. He heeded that advice, grabbing three big boards on defense and stealing the ball twice besides hitting 4-of-5 from deep and 7-of-8 from the stripe. 'Three-point line is what killed us in the fourth,' James said. Malone knew that when Murray finally found the net, many more buckets would follow. 'We all know ... he just has to see one go in,' Malone said, and when that happened, 'he kind of looked up to the heavens and that's all he needs. And after that he's shooting into a hula hoop.' Just like in Game 1, the Lakers didn't go down easily. They pulled to three points on Austin Reaves (6'5''-G-1998, college: Oklahoma)' jumper before Murray sank two free throws with 12 seconds left and Bruce Brown (6'5''-SG-1996, college: Miami, FL) stole the ball from James, then dribbled out the final 8 seconds. The Nuggets improved to 41-8 at home, best in the NBA, including 8-0 in the playoffs. James and Reaves both scored 22 for Los Angeles. Davis scored 18 after pouring in 40 in the opener and Rui Hachimura (6'8''-F-1998, college: Gonzaga) scored 21 points off the bench. For much of the night, it appeared as though the Lakers would wrest home-court advantage from the Nuggets, who are the top seed for the first time in their history. The Lakers won the series openers at Memphis and Golden State to reach the conference championship. The outstanding defense Hachimura played on Jokic in the fourth quarter of the Lakers' loss in Game 1 led many to believe coach Darvin Ham would start Hachimura to try to stymie the Nuggets' star center from the start. But instead he came off the bench again, scoring 17 first-half points but just four thereafter. 'Proud of our guys,' Ham said. 'They bounced back. We addressed a lot of the things that we said we were going to try to do better. Still got to be better in transition D. But overall the energy was there, the effort was there, the urgency was there, we just caught a bad stretch.' And a suddenly red-hot Jamal Murray.

Express turn tables on top-seeded Lightning to take opener of NBL of Canada final - by Eurobasket News
Members of the Windsor Express have insisted that this is a different team than the one the London Lightning saw in the regular season. On Thursday, the third-seeded Express proved true to their word by taking the opening game of the NBL of Canada final by a 105-104 count over the top-seeded Lightning at Budweiser Gardens. 'We got a big one,' Express head coach Bill Jones said. 'This is a different team. It's a team that's playing well together.' Windsor dropped six-of-seven meetings against the Lightning in the regular season, but six of those games were played before the end of February. Thursday's result matched the score of Windsor's lone regular-season win over the Lightning in London. The Express avoided any long offensive droughts during Thursday's back-and-forth battle that went to the buzzer and ended with Billy White (6'8''-PF-1989, college: SDSU)'s steal to seal the win. 'I think we stayed tough,' Express guard Latin Davis (6'0''-PG, college: WSU, agency: VM Hoops Agency) said. 'We've been doing that since the Sudbury (semifinal) series. That's a big positive for us.' Davis scored 12 of his 25 points in the opening quarter to help the Express open a six-point lead, but the Lightning rallied to take a four-point lead at the half. 'Latin Davis was a leader and got us started,' Jones said. Windsor clawed back to tie the game at 72-72 entering the fourth quarter and Nick Garth (6'0''-PG-1996, college: Lamar)'s three-point shot with 79 seconds left in regulation put Windsor up for good. 'We were able to get back together and get through some difficult times,' Jones said. 'It was a hard fought second half and we were able to pull it out.' Guard Ja'Myrin Jackson (6'4''-G/F-1998) paced the Windsor offence with 26 points with 14 coming in the final quarter when the Express shot 64.7 per cent from the floor by hitting 11-of-17 shots. White finished with 16 points and also topped the Express with eight assists and eight rebounds while William Claiborne (6'11''-F/C, college: LSUA) finished with 14 points and Garth added 12 points. Game 2 of the best-of-five series is Saturday in London before the series shifts back to Windsor.

31-year old forward Waverly Austin (211-F-1991, agency: Diamond Sports) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Al Sadd and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 14.
He recorded a triple-double of 24 points adding also 15 rebounds and 15 assists, while his team beat Qatar Club (#4, 11-5) 98-91. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Al Sadd maintains the 2nd position in Qatari league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Al Sadd will need more victories to improve their 12-4 record. Austin turned to be Al Sadd's top player in his first season with the team. University of Oregon graduate has very impressive stats this year. Austin is in league's top in points (5th best: 23.4ppg) and averages solid 3.9bpg and 55.2% FGP.

Despite lost game Al Shamal moved up to 3rd position in the standings. His team's 11-5 record is not bad at all. Elmekawi is one of the most experienced players at Al Shamal and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Brian Halums (196-G-1997) of Qatar Club (#4). Halums showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, twelve rebounds (!!!) and twelve assists (!!!) in the last round. Despite Halums' great performance Qatar Club lost 91-98 to #2 ranked Al Sadd. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Qatar Club needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 11 victories and 5 lost games. Halums has a great season in Qatar. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 26.7ppg (3rd best), rebounds with 10.4rpg (4th best) and assists with 10.4apg (4th best). Andrija Jelavic gets MVP of the Week award for Serbian KLS (Second Stage) - by Hoops Agents - by Eurobasket News
Talented Croatian Andrija Jelavic (207-F-2004) had a great game in the last round for league's second-best OKK Beograd and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 4 (Second Stage).
The 18-year old forward had a double-double of 30 points and eleven rebounds, while his team outclassed, Second Stage bottom-ranked team Zlatibor (#4, 0-4) with 26-point margin 98-72. OKK Beograd maintains the 2nd position in their group in Serbian KLS. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this stage. OKK Beograd will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. In the team's last game Jelavic had a remarkable 100.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be OKK Beograd's top player in his first season with the team. Jelavic has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 9.1rpg) and averages solid 53.9% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Croatian center Danko Brankovic (215-C-2000) of Super Liga B best team Mega BG. Brankovic impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds. Of course he led Mega BG to another comfortable win 92-78 over slightly lower-ranked Borac CA (#2, 2-1) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Mega BG to move up to 1st position in Super Liga B. A very good start of the Second Stage for his team, which won so far all 3 games without any defeat. Brankovic is a newcomer at Mega BG and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Uros Carapic (195-SG-1996) of second-ranked Borac CA. Carapic scored 28 points. Despite Carapic's great performance Borac CA lost 78-92 to #1 ranked Mega BG. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Borac CA needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in Super Liga B. Their record is 2 victories and 1 lost game. Carapic has a very solid season. In 3 games in Serbia he scored 22.7ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Matej Rudan (208-PF-2001) of Mega BG - 25 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Stefan Miljenovic (190-G-2001) of OKK Beograd - 20 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Nikola Kocovic (197-G-1996) of Borac CA - 22 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists
7. Nemanja Todorovic (206-PF-1991) of Borac CA - 16 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Koca Jovovic (187-G-1993) of Vojvodina NS - 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Luka Cerovina (200-F-2000) of Mega BG - 28 points and 3 rebounds

Lynx cut roster by waiving veteran Damiris Dantas and rookie Taylor Soule - by Eurobasket News
The Lynx got their roster before Friday's WNBA opener by waiving veteran Damiris Dantas (191-F-1992) and rookie Taylor Soule (180-F-2000, college: Virginia Tech, agency: LBM Management). The move gives the Lynx a 12-person roster on paper, but an 11-player roster in reality; center Natalie Achonwa is on medical leave and was replaced on the roster by Lindsay Allen, who is on a league minimum contract. The roster includes rookies Diamond Miller, the second-overall player taken in April's WNBA draft, and Dorka Juhasz, who was taken 16th. Others are Rachel Banham, Bridget Carleton, Napheesa Collier, Kayla McBride, Nikolina Milic, Tiffany Mitchell, Aerial Powers and Jessica Shepard. Dantas has played eight years in the league. She averaged 5.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists last season, missing time during the year for personal reasons. A 6-3 post, she was a standout player in Brazil before the Lynx drafted her in the first round (12th overall) in 2012. She was later part of a three-team trade that sent her to Atlanta as the Lynx acquired Sylvia Fowles, but Dantas re-signed in Minnesota as a free agent before the 2019 season.
Soule, who played four seasons at Boston College, then finished at Virginia Tech, was a 5-11 forward who was a third round (28th overall) pick in this year's WNBA draft. The season opener is Friday night against Chicago at Target Center.

Blow For WBBL As Sun Goes Down On Sevenoaks - by Jeff King
Disappointing and unexpected news coming out of The WBBL sees Sevenoaks Suns a perennial challenger at the top reaches of the WBBL confirm that they will not being running a side in The WBBL next season. A surprise to many although perhaps not those close to the game in the UK the statement was made via their website this week

"After great consideration, the Sevenoaks Suns will be unable to participate in the 2023-24 WBBL season.

This difficult decision was made for financial and administrative reasons. Our WBBL team has seen the costs of participating in the league dramatically increase over the past few years making its current financial model unsustainable.

We are hopeful that a new model can be worked out to enable the team to return for the 2024-25 WBBL season.

We're proud to have been a part of the growth of the women's game in the 9 years since the WBBL was founded and remain committed to building women's basketball in Britain.

For now, thank you to all of the Suns players past and present and everyone who has supported us and been part of the extended Suns family. Once a Sun, always a Sun."

Everyone within The WBBL is sad to hear the news but have their fingers crossed that taking a year out, like Sheffield Hatters did a couple of seasons ago, may given them the financial backing and drive to return in 2024/25.

Talented Sofia Herrera (179-SG-2005) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best Aguada and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 17-year old shooting guard had the game-high 13 points adding eight rebounds and three assists for Aguada in her team's victory, helping them to outclass Lagomar (#7, 1-4) with 30-point margin 91-61. Aguada is placed at 2nd position in Uruguayan Liga Femenina. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Aguada already had a very good start winning all 5 without losing a single one. Herrera just recently signed at Aguada, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Sofia Herrera averages this season 10.5ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Aguada's star - young center Josefina Rivera (177-C-1998). Rivera impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Of course together with Herrera she helped Aguada with another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Lagomar (#7, 1-4) 91-61. This victory allowed Aguada to move up to second position in the standings. A very good start of the season for her team, which won so far all 5 games without any defeat. Rivera is one of the most experienced players at Aguada and similarly like Sofia Herrera has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was another Aguada's star - Camila Kirschenbaum (170-G-2002). Kirschenbaum scored 21 points. She was another key player of Aguada, helping her team with a 91-61 easy win against the lower-ranked Lagomar (#7, 1-4). Aguada started extremely well this year. They recorded 5 victories without losing a single game. Kirschenbaum turns to be one of the very best players in the league while she is also a leader of the top team having her eyes on the championship title. Kirschenbaum has a great season in Uruguay. After only 4 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.8ppg (best scorer) and assists with 4.5apg (8th best).
