FIBA 3x3 World Tour Macau Masters 2023 presented by Wynn to take place at Wynn Palace - by Eurobasket News

The 3x3 World Tour Macau Masters presented by Wynn will visit Macau this July, featuring 14 teams from different parts of the world and total prize money of USD 200,000 (MOP1.62 million), the organizers announced in a press conference to launch the event that took place at Wynn Palace Hotel.

On July 8 -9, the World Tour will visit Macau for the 4th stop of the 2023 season, finally putting it on the map of the international destinations of 3x3 basketball, after hosting in the past only regional qualifiers of this event. The organizers hope that through this event, spectators from different parts of the world will be interested in traveling to Macau, contributing to the development of the local sports industry as well as its synergic effects on other sectors.

Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana inks Aleksandr Shashkov on a 3-year contract - by Eurobasket News

Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana (Liga Nova KBM) agreed terms with 23-year old Russian center Aleksandr Shashkov (211cm-104kg-2000) for new 2023-24 season. Shashkov is the second import player in the roster as German Justus Hollatz signed here earlier.
He played last season at Ilirija (Liga Nova KBM). In 21 games he had 14.1ppg, 7.2rpg (#4 in the league) and 1.4apg. Good season as he was named League Player of the Week (2 times). He also played 2 games in Alpe Adria Cup where he recorded 8.5ppg, 5.0rpg, 3.0apg and 1.0spg.
The previous (2021-22) season he played at BC Nizhny Novgorod in Russia league. In two VTB United League games he averaged 4.0ppg in that year. He also played 1 game in Basketball Champions League, but he did not score anything.
Shashkov represented Russia at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U18 in Latvia five years ago. His team got to the Semifinals and his stats at that event were 7 games: 7.7ppg, 5.0rpg, FGP: 48.3%, 3PT: 35.3%, FT: 66.7%.
He is quite experienced player. Shashkov has played also professionally in Italy (Pesaro), Ukraine (Khortytsia), Slovenia (Helios Suns, Helios mladi and Helios Suns) and Russia (CSKA Moscow U23 team and CSKA Moscow 2nd team).

Jordan Walker (ex Aalst) signs at KK FMP Meridian Beograd - by Eurobasket News

KK FMP Meridian Beograd (KLS) landed 25-year old American 186cm point guard Jordan Walker (college: Morehead State) for new season. Walker played most recently at Okapi Aalst in Belgian Pro Basketball League. In 32 BNXT League games he averaged impressive 17.8ppg, 3.7rpg, 3.3apg and 1.3spg last season.
The previous (2021-22) season he played at Hamburg Towers in German BBL where in only one game he had 5 points, 1 assist and 1 steal in that year. It was a very successful season in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-German 2.Bundesliga Pro B Honorable Mention. He also played 8 games in Eurocup where he recorded just 1.6ppg in that year. The other team he played that season for was Rist Wedel in German ProB. In 26 games he was league's third best scorer with remarkable 20.6ppg and got 4.0rpg, 2.6apg and 2.2spg (in top 5) in that year. Walker can count that season as a very successful as was selected to Eurobasket.com All-German 2.Bundesliga Pro B Honorable Mention.
He has played also professionally in Georgia (Orbi).
Among many awards his team made it to the Georgian A League Semifinals in 2021. Walker was also voted to Eurobasket.com All-Georgian A-League Guard of the Year in 2021.
He graduated from Morehead State in 2020 and it will be his fourth season in pro basketball.

Quimsa conquer La Liga title - by Eurobasket News

Quimsa - Boca 77-51

Quimsa clinched La Liga title. They outgunned Boca in Game 5 of the Finals to lift the trophy. Quimsa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Quimsa outrebounded Boca 46-27 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American power forward Eric Anderson (204-1993, college: New Haven) stepped up and scored 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and the former international Mauro Cosolito (192-1988) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists. The former international Leonel Schattmann (193-1987) responded with 14 points and 4 assists and American-Jordanian Dar Tucker (193-1988, college: DePaul) scored 5 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

Liga Basquet Pro 2023 - Matias Eidintas (ex Dep Viedma) signs at Guerreros - by Francisco Vega

Guerreros Neaume Marco Cepeda (Liga Basquet Pro) landed 28-year old Argentinian 186cm shooting guard Matias Eidintas. Eidintas has played for the last five years at Dep Viedma in Argentinian La Liga. In 35 La Liga Argentina games he was league's second best scorer with impressive 19.4ppg and recorded 2.9rpg, 1.7apg and 1.4spg last season.
He has played also professionally in Perfora.
Among many awards his team won Argentinian Liga Argentina Conferencia Sur Regular Season in 2022. Eidintas was also voted to Latinbasket.com All-Argentinian La Liga Argentina Guard of the Year in 2021.

Bayern sign Leandro Bolmaro - by Fersu Yahyabeyoglu

FC Bayern Muenchen (BBL) landed 22-year old Argentinian international 198cm swingman Leandro Bolmaro for new season. Bolmaro is the second foreign player in the roster as Serbian Vladimir Lucic signed here earlier.
He played most recently at Lenovo Tenerife in Spanish Liga Endesa. He managed to play in four leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In 16 Liga Endesa games he averaged 6.0ppg and 2.0rpg. He also played 7 games in Basketball Champions League where he had 6.0ppg and 1.6rpg. Bolmaro helped them to make it to the semifinals. The other team he played that season for were the Jazz in NBA. But in 14 games he recorded just 0.4ppg. Another team he played that season for was Stars in U.S. NBA-G-League. In 14 games he got 11.2ppg, 4.7rpg and 4.9apg.
Three years ago he was drafted by New York Knicks (NBA) in first round (23rd overall).
He has been also a member of Argentinian international program for some years. Bolmaro has regularly played for Argentinian senior team since 2021 and previously for U19 National Team in 2019.
He represented Argentina at the Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan) two years ago. His stats at that event were 4 games: 2.0ppg, 1.0rpg.
Bolmaro is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to four different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America). Bolmaro has played previously professionally in NBA (Minnesota Timberwolves), Argentina (Bahia) and NBA G League (Iowa Wolves).
He won Spanish Liga Endesa championship title in 2021.

Roughly 6 months have had many of the coach to draw their teams, their plans, some reached their goals, others didn't find the way but anothers had to handly their teams and surf the season.
Martin Guastavino was the big surprise at the Conferencia del Sur not for the results, but La Union Colon was deploying its development plan to seek to establish itself and be competitive in the tournament, and this opportunity not only was the chance to began again to live in Liga Argentina's world, was the opportuniy to writte a new history in the club.
Union was set out like a competitive team in the Conferencia del Sur, not only establishing themselves in the category, but also fighting in a great way against the champion of the League as it was Zarate Basket Independiente
Guastavino was champions of the Liga Federal, and won the award to rise to play the 2nd category. This chemical in his team was the big key to won the heart of the Colon's fan.
In Regular Round had record 16-16. Union won their series against Quilmes Mar del Plata ( 2-1) and lost (3-1) in Quartefinals against Zarate Basket Independiente

East Perth Eagles tab rookie Lukas Milner in his first year in pro basketball - by Hugh McAuliffe

East Perth Eagles (NBL One West) inked 23-year old American 208cm center Lukas Milner, agency: One Motive Sports. Milner just graduated from Boise State University (NCAA). He has played there for the last three years. Milner helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in NCAA1. They also advanced to the league semifinals.
He started his college career at Johnson County Community College (JUCO). Then he moved to Boise State University (NCAA). Milner's high school career he had spent at Olathe North in Olathe, KS.
So his pro career will start in Australia.

Ilarion Bonhomme (ex Centrum) signs at Senators - by Hugh McAuliffe

Warwick Senators (NBL One West) landed 31-year old American (has also Haitian passport) 182cm point guard Ilarion Bonhomme, agency: Dreamer Sports Agency. Bonhomme played most recently at Centrum in Norwegian BLNO. In 6 games he averaged 13.7ppg, 5.5rpg, 6.7apg and 1.7spg last season.
He is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in five different countries playing on three different continents. Bonhomme is familiar with European, Australian and of course North American leagues. He has played previously professionally in Canada (Bobcats and Bisons), Spain (Caja Rural), Ukraine (Mykolaiv) and Australia (Eltham Wildcats).
Among many awards he played in the final of Australian Big V in 2018. Bonhomme was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Norwegian BLNO Honorable Mention back in 2020.

Peristeri adds Mitrou-Long to their roster - by Eurobasket News

Peristeri BWin Athens (GBL) added to their roster 26-year old Canadian guard Elijah Mitrou-Long (185cm-86kg-1996, college: UNLV) for new 2023-24 season. Mitrou-Long is the second import player in the roster as USA Matt Coleman III signed here earlier.
He played last season at Aris. In 19 GBL games in Greece he had 10.1ppg, 3.4rpg, 3.1apg and 1.1spg. He also spent pre-season at Yalovaspor (TBL) in Turkish league.
He has played also professionally in Bulgaria (Levski), Greece (PAOK Mateco Thessaloniki and AS Apollon Patras) and Canada (River Lions).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his team was regular season runner-up in MWC in 2020. Mitrou-Long was voted to USBasket.com All-CEBL Honorable Mention in 2022.
He graduated from University of Nevada - Las Vegas in 2020 and it will be his fourth season as a professional player. Mitrou-Long played also for The University of Texas for 2 years.

Unicaja keeps Sima for another season - by Eurobasket News

Unicaja Malaga (Liga Endesa) re-signed 26-year old international 211cm power forward Yankuba Sima (college: OK State) for upcoming season. Sima played there last season. In 25 Liga Endesa games he recorded 5.4ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.0apg. He also played 10 games in Basketball Champions League where he averaged 5.6ppg and 3.4rpg. Sima helped them to make it to the semifinals.
He has been also a member of Spanish international program for some years. Sima has regularly played for Spanish senior team since 2021 and previously for U19 National Team back in 2015.
He represented Spain at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U20 in Simalsinki (Finland) seven years ago. Sima's team won Gold and his stats at that event were 7 games: 7.6ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.6spg, Blocks-5 (1.4bpg), FGP: 39.2%, FT: 65.0%.
He has played previously professionally also in Italy (Venezia) and Spain (Ourense and Manresa).
Among many awards he played in the final of Basketball Champions League in 2022. Sima was voted to Eurobasket.com All-World Championships U19 Honorable Mention back in 2015.
He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2018 and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball. Sima played also for St. John's University for 2 years.

Kenny Williams III signs at Peristeri - by Eurobasket News

Peristeri BWin Athens (GBL) landed 26-year old American 193cm guard Kenny Williams III (college: UNC, agency: Slash Sports) for new season. Williams is a well-known player in Greek GBL as he played most recently at AEK Athens (GBL). In 23 games he averaged 11.6ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.8apg last season. He helped them to make it to the Greek Cup Semifinals. Williams also played 16 games in Basketball Champions League where he had 10.2ppg, 2.6rpg and 1.4apg. He contributed to his team making it to the quarterfinals.
His team won ACC Regular Season in 2016 and 2017.
The previous (2021-22) season he played at Kolossos. In 25 GBL games he recorded 12.7ppg, 3.6rpg, 2.2apg and 1.3spg in that year.
Williams has played also professionally in Israel (Bnei Hasharon), NBA G League (Austin Spurs) and NBA Summer League (Charlotte Hornets).
He was voted All-Conference player of the Year back in 2014.
Williams graduated from University of North Carolina in 2019 and it will be his fifth season in pro basketball. His team won ACC Regular Season in 2016 and 2017.

The biggest surprise took place in Oruro where host Carl A-Z (7-6) crushed league's leader Pichincha (8-4) 88-66 on Saturday evening. Carl A-Z made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Argentinian center Diego Romero (206-1982, college: FSU) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 23 rebounds and 9 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Guard Mauricio Tola (184-1992) chipped in 21 points and 10 rebounds. Carl A-Z's coach Marcelo Mendieta felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Rene Calvo (193-1993) who recorded 15 points and 8 rebounds. Carl A-Z moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion Pichincha dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with San Simon. They were replaced at the leadership position by Atletico Nacional.
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Atletico Nacional as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Atletico Nacional smashed 10th ranked La Paz in Potosi 103-79. It was a good game for Cuban-\n guard Adriano Barreras (186-1989) who led his team to a victory with 31 points. DMonta Harris contributed with 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Atletico Nacional's coach Enrique Lancelotti felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international guard Irin Stark (185-1989, college: STAC) answered with 31 points for La Paz. Atletico Nacional (9-3) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. La Paz lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost.
Top ranked Pichincha (8-4) recorded its fourth loss at the home court on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Calero (6-6) 72-61. It was a great evening for Felipe De Paula who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 27 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was Rene Calvo with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Calero moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Univ.Sucre. Defending champion Pichincha dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with San Simon.

Other games of round 15 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
CAN Oruro was defeated by Calero in Potosi 68-58. CAN Oruro was smashed by Atletico Nacional at home 59-83. Carl A-Z lost to San Simon on the opponent's court 78-88. CAN Oruro unfortunately lost to Carl A-Z in a home game 64-67. San Simon rolled over Saracho on the road 103-84. Leones defeated Univ.Sucre on its own court 84-72. Leones smashed La Paz in Potosi 115-84.

It was a great evening for Argentinian power forward Juan Cruz Oberto (200-1997) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Agustin Carreon (190-2000) helped adding 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was Albert Flores (191-1991) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and Argentinian forward Juan Martin Bello (200-1999) scored 20 points. Four CAN Oruro players scored in double figures. Calero moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Univ.Sucre. CAN Oruro lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost.

San Simon looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Carl A-Z's players. It was a great evening for Argentinian Rolando Vallejos (195-2000) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Pedro Gutierrez (182-1996) helped adding 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Five San Simon players scored in double figures. San Simon's coach used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American-Nigerian forward Sidney Umude (201-1995, college: Southern) with 25 points and 5 rebounds and Argentinian center Diego Romero (206-1982, college: FSU) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Buducnost Prolab Bijeljina (Division I) signed 29-year old naturalized Serbian small forward Djordje Micic (201cm-100kg-1993) for upcoming 2023-24 season. Micic played last season at KK Drina Princip Zvornik in Bosnia and Herzegovina Rep.Srpska. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Micic also played for Radnik (1. Liga RS).
He was a member of Serbian U17 National Team back in 2010.
Micic has played previously professionally also in Slovenia (Petrol Olimpija Ljubljana and LTH Castings) and Bosnia (Capljina, Vogosca, Gradjanski and Spars).
He could be described: Djordje Micic is a small forward with good understanding of the game. Micic can cover 1,2 and 3 postion, he is good ball handler, excellent court vision and can creat a lot during the game. Needs consistency in three point shooting, can score in different ways including mismatches on a low post. He is not aggressive defender and not a kind of player who can play full court press, but he reads well the offense and it's hard to beat. Main weakness is a lack of athleticism.

The PrimeTime Players took on the Gastonia Snipers in the Southern Conference Semifinals this past Sunday with a spot in the conference finals for the winners. PrimeTime missed the Conference Finals for the 1st time after being knocked out by Columbia in last year's semifinals. PrimeTime came into the matchup as the leagues #2 seed and Gastonia came in as the #6 seed and also off of a 140-128 upset win over Bishopville Devils. The PrimeTime Players opened up strong with Cornellius Reynolds (6'6''-G/F-1997, college: Claflin) scoring 17 points in the 1st quarter as PrimeTime took control early and led 30-20 at the end of one. The second quarter was the exact opposite as Gastonia was able to break down the defense of PrimeTime and find multiple player open for wide open three points including 4 by Yakim Jenkins (5'10''-PG). Going into the half Gastonia outscored PrimeTime 13-4 over the final 2 minutes to take a 70-69 lead. The second half both teams played even through the 3rd quarter before PrimeTime Pulled away in the 4th by out scoring Gastonia 38-16 in the quarter. Denzell Hosch (6'0''-PG) scored 11pts down the stretch and Isiah Cureton (6'4''-F, college: Wingate) added 16 as PrimeTime Came away with a 136-118 win. PrimeTime advances to the conference Finals meet Saturday in Rock Hill as they will take on the top seed Carolina Thunder.

Euroleague Basketball announced on June 15 that Dejan Bodiroga will remain as Euroleague Basketball President while Paulius Motiejunas will be the new acting Chief Executive Officer for the 2023-24 season.
Dejan Bodiroga , who was appointed Euroleague Basketball President on September 14, 2022, will continue to focus on increasing the quality of the competition for clubs, players, fans, partners and all EB stakeholder while playing a key role in strengthening relationships with the wider basketball community, including the EuroLeague Players Association, the EuroLeague Head Coaches Board, the Union of Euroleague Basketball Officials, FIBA, domestic leagues and other basketball-related institutions.
Motiejunas, 42, was unanimously appointed by Euroleague Basketball shareholders and will replace Marshall Glickman, who was acting CEO during the 2022-23 season. Motiejunas has extensive experience within the Euroleague Basketball ecosystem, having spent most of his career to date in various capacities with Euroleague Basketball shareholder Zalgiris Kaunas. He started with Zalgiris in 2007 as the director of communications, later became general manager, and has been the club president and owner since 2013. He is also the director of Zalgirio Arena. Under Motiejunas's management, Zalgiris has experienced some of its most successful moments on the court by qualifying multiple times to the EuroLeague Playoffs and reaching the Final Four for the first time this century in 2018. Zalgiris has thrived by developing some of Lithuania's top young prospects and combining them with a mix of the country's best and most experienced players and foreign talents looking to take their careers to the next level. Risacher played last season at ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket in the Betclic ELITE ProA. In 18 games he had just 2.3ppg and 1.1rpg. He helped them to win the cup. Good season as he was named League Player of the Week. Risacher also played 18 games in Euroleague where he recorded 3.2ppg and 1.8rpg.
He represented France at the FIBA U17 World Cup in Spain last year. His team won Bronze and his stats at that event were 7 games: 10.4ppg, 4.4rpg, 2.6apg, 1.1bpg, FGP-1 (76.9%), 3PT: 36.0%, FT: 66.7%.

Cholet Basket (Betclic ELITE ProA) confirmed in their roster experienced 34-year old naturalized Dutch power forward Kim Tillie (210cm-101kg-1988, college: Utah) for new 2023-24 season. Tillie played there last season. In 26 Betclic ELITE ProA games he had 4.7ppg, 3.4rpg and 1.2apg. He also played 18 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he recorded 4.5ppg and 3.8rpg. Tillie helped them to make it to the cup final.
The previous (2021-22) season he played at Kolossos in Greek GBL. In 22 games he averaged 8.5ppg and 5.6rpg in that year.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2012.
Tillie represented France at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) seven years ago. His stats at that event were 4 games: 2.5ppg, 1.3rpg.
He is quite experienced player. Tillie's career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in five different countries. Tillie tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia and of course North America. Loon-Plage swept Poitiers to capture NM1 title. The game was mostly controlled by Loon-Plage. Poitiers managed to win fourth quarter 22-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game, while Poitiers only scored nine points from the stripe. 24 personal fouls committed by Poitiers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Christopher Dauby (193-1999) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Antoine Rojewski (194-2000) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Loon-Plage players scored in double figures. American Courtney Stockard (196-1995, college: St.Bonaventure) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Jim Seymour (200-1998) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Poitiers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.

Gillet comes back to Denain-Voltaire - by Eurobasket News

Denain ASC Voltaire (ProB) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 36-year old shooting guard Benoit Gillet (192cm-1986) for season 2023-24. It is actually his comeback to Denain Voltaire as he has played here before. Gillet has played for the last six years at Saint Quentin in the ProB. In 33 games he recorded 6.4ppg, 1.2rpg and 3.2apg last season. He helped them to win the ProB title.
Gillet was a member of French U20 National Team in 2006.
He has spent his entire career in France playing for four other teams: Chalons Reims, Saint Etienne, Stade Clermont and Lille Metropole.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-French NM1 Honorable Mention back in 2019.
It's very possible he may end his playing career at Denain-Voltaire.

Defending champion Fribourg Olympic (SBL) re-signed 28-year old Swiss-French international 202cm forward Natan Jurkovitz for new season. Jurkovitz signs 2+1 deal.
He has played there for the last two seasons. He managed to play in three leagues last year (!!!). The team played in three different competitions that year, and he was exposed to basketball on different levels. In 39 SBL games he averaged 10.0ppg, 5.0rpg, 2.9apg and 1.3spg. He helped them to win the league title and the Supercup. Jurkovitz can count that season as a very successful as was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Swiss SBL Honorable Mention. He also played 6 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he had 7.0ppg, 4.7rpg, 3.8apg and 1.2spg. And finally he recorded 1 game in Basketball Champions League where he got 6 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist.
Jurkovitz also represented Switzerland at the Qualifications to European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) 2017 seven years ago. His stats at that event were 6 games: 2.3ppg, 2.3rpg.
He has played previously professionally also in Israel (Hapoel Beer Sheva and Hapoel Eilat) and Switzerland (Villars, Geneve and Academie Fribourg).
Among many awards he was selected Eurobasket.com All-Swiss SBL Domestic Player of the Year back in 2020.

Brandon Bowman Rocked With Everyone In The Bonn 2008-2009 Team Season As His Starting 5 Was Every Player - by Miles Schmidt-Scheuber

Brandon Bowman (206-F-1984, college: Georgetown) is a 38 year old 206cm forward who Is still a professional player. His last season was the 2020-2021 season when he played for Giessen in Germany. He has been injured the last 2 seasons and moved to Israel and is working on his comeback. The California native began his career at Westchester high school in Los Angeles and then played at the illustrious Georgetown (NCAA) from 2002-2006. In 2006 he turned professional and played for 26 organizations from 2006-2021. He played 5 seasons in Israel and 4 seasons in Germany and also played in countries like Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria, France, Serbia, Korea, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Cyprus, Qatar, Belgium, China, Paraguay and Greece. He spoke to eurobasket about his memories of the 2008-2009 Telekom Baskets Bonn team and basketball.

Thanks Brandon for talking to eurobasket.com. I would of thought you would be back home in Los Angeles, but on the contrary. Your living in Israel at the moment. How is life treating you?

Life in Israel is cool. Real laid back. Of course I miss home but this isn't a bad option at all. And the choice to stay here was clear to me given the citizenship process and all. No time to really leave until I receive my papers unless it's for basketball.

You played parts of 5 seasons in Israel, but also played parts of 4 seasons in Germany. Is Israel more like a second home to you then Germany?

I honestly consider them both to be very familiar territory to me. I feel just as comfortable being in both places with Obviously Germany being a lot bigger. It seems like I'm more familiar with both Germany, and Israel, than Los Angeles currently.

Your last game was more than 2 years ago. You finished with Giessen beating FC Bayern Munich 95-94 and had 16 points. How satisfying was that win for you personally?

That win was pretty satisfying given the season we had. It started off so tough and picked up tremendously after hiring Rolf as our head coach. And actually I felt as if that win would start a winning streak for us (which it did) but I wasn't able to join because of breaking my thumb. But still. Getting a winning feeling against a team like Bayern will always be special. Especially playing for the underdogs.

You missed the last 2 seasons because of injury, but at age 38 still want to play again. Are you 100% healthy now? Talk a little about the last 2 years and what your body went through?

First and foremost I'm 100% healthy. I practiced most of the season with a team by my house to keep my game tight so I still approached everyday as if I'm still signed. Over these past two years I've also learned more about my body since I've never really given it this much time to rest. Breaking my thumb for a second time in one year was truly a setback but made me grow in other areas that were lacking. I really focused on improving my left hand overall. I think you're never too old to learn so I want to make sure the holes in my game are a small as possible while still keeping a certain amount of athleticism to dunk and make other moves when needed.

I remember when you played in Bayreuth, you lived in the gym. How many extra years of playing professionally would you estimate did your gym work outs allow you to have such a long career?

Man. I really couldn't tell you. Of course working on your game is very important. But it's the other things that I've stayed loyal to that have kept the longevity up. Eating right. Hitting the weight room. Working on plyometrics. Mobility work is key. I try not to skip a step and use everything at my disposal. My mental toughness had carried me a long way and has given me the chance to play again at a high level and such a high age.

I guess it would make sense to play in Israel this upcoming season. Is that the plan?

Yeah. Playing in Israel is the plan. It's the most ideal for my situation.

You helped the Telekom Baskets Bonn reach the final in 2009. Bonn is back in the final for the first team as they had an incredible season. Do you still follow your ex team?

I follow most basketball across the world. Espn ally countries I've spent a lot of time in so of course I'm following them. They've had an outstanding season so far. Hopefully they can finish legendary run with a BBL title.

The 2008-2009 Bonn was a special team that finished the regular season in fourth place. What do you remember being this team's biggest strength?

I thought everyone bought into what we were trying to do. Mike made it easy for everyone to go with the flow and roles were made at the beginning of the season. We played so many games together that season with league and European competition. We were bound to just get better as a whole.

The team had 2 ex NBA players with Ken Johnson and Vincent Yarbrough and a third player by the name of Brandon Bowman who I felt should always have made it. You played in the G-League, NBA Summer league and NBA training camps. How close do you feel were to getting a NBA opportunity?

Actually that next season I had signed with the 76'ers and made their roster but was later cut because of Allen Iverson making a comeback and me being the 15th man. After being cut, then I headed to Turkey. And to be honest. That chance they gave me in Philly was the first legit shot that I had at making a NBA roster. And I played extremely well. But I also had interest from Oldenburg and Berlin that summer so if I could do it again, I think I would've chose the Euroleague route.

How will you remember John Bowler most? He was an unorthodox player that also had a original character and humor.

John was definitely a fun guy who was into everything. That was my first complete season overseas so John and his wife (Biz) showed me a lot about how to move around. What to do. Where to go. And on the court I always thought he was someone I could trust to do his job and do it well. Despite the injuries, I thought he was a huge part of our success today.

What memories will you always have of EJ Rowland? The guy just completed his 18th season at age 40. I guess his wheels never fell off.

Yeah. I mean, me and Erow are still very close. Bonn started a friendship that would never die. And I'm not surprised at what he's doing currently. There's a stigma about older players that older players are currently breaking today. Guys are playing longer and in better shape. Whenever I'm on the court, the thought of being older or slower or whatever never crosses my mind because it's a non factor. I'm able to do and keep up with everyone else. But a big shot out to the coach of Erows team for bringing him in. Not every coach will bring a player in just because he think he's 'too old' my guy will be playing until HE'S ready to retire. Not vice Versa.

Bonn began the playoffs by sweeping Ulm. Could the series have changed for the worse had Bonn not won game 2 71-69?

Losing can always do something psychological to you and give the other team an advantage. But we had controlled Ulm all season long so we knew if we played our game and excited correctly, the series would be ours regardless of losing one game or going for the sweep.

Is Jeff Gibbs one of those guys that you will never forget playing against? Was he one of the greatest undersized bigs you ever saw?

Jeff will definitely be someone I won't forget in my career. I've never seen anything like him on a professional level and there's no stopping him. Only containing him. Especially me. He outweighed me by about 30-40 pounds that season. Lol

The Alba Berlin series was crazy. Bonn won the first 2 games combined by 5 points and looked like the final was an easy bet , but then they strapped up the defense and allowed Bonn to average 40 points in the next 2 games. What did they change up?

If I'm not mistaken they just used their experience and age to overpower us a little bit. 5 games series are like that. But we responded well. They had some big names on that team but it didn't matter to us because we knew we could hoop just as well as they could or even better on any given the day. And on top of that. We played Berlin and Oldenburg 8 times each that season (reg season/cup/playoffs) so each team was very familiar with one another so getting the upper hand and controlling the game is easy when the momentum is on your side. And it was for those two games.

Then came the crazy final against Oldenburg. Bonn was always up a game, but Oldenburg always fought back. Was the 71-70 loss in game 5 your toughest loss in your career?

BY FAR THE TOUGHESS LOSS IN MY CAREER. I'm still haunted by the 2nd half of that game. Hard pill to swallow. And can't help but think where everyone's career would've been if we did win that series.

Talk a little about the last seconds. How do you remember witnessing them?

I just remember the two passes they stole and to seal the game for them. That's it. That's all. Smh.

What was the difference in the series? Could Bonn had won the series keeping Ricky Paulding better in check?

I think we could've won if we didn't have the turnovers we had in the last 2 minutes. Ricky is going to be Ricky. Hard to actually stop great players. But we can exploit other options and weaknesses they have. But to sum it up. I think we shot ourselves in the foot.

Was that successful 2008-2009 one of your fondest memories in your career?

Maybe not the fondest but definitely up there. I've been blessed to win some championships and meet some great people on and off the court in my career so Bonn definitely goes towards the top.

What made it so special to play for Michael Koch? He was a player's coach. You did show in Ludwigsburg that you could function under other coaches?

I loved Mike from day one. Definitely a players coach and that helped a lot getting through to the players. Him having success comes easy when you listen to him. Of course there's seasons where you don't do as well or what not but my experience with him was always solid. Win lose or draw, I'd go to war for him to this very day. That's my guy!

Please name your starting 5 of favorite Bonn teammates?

I rocked with Everyone that season. Not one person I could single out or make a starting 5. I literally chilled with everyone that season. Whether it was dinner/club/workouts/games. I was with everyone. So my starting 5 is every player on that team.

Who won a 1-1 in practice you or Patrick Flomo?

LMAOOOO. Man the only person I played one on one with that whole entire season was Erow. We would go at it all the time while other guys watched. But me and Flomo would guard each other in practice. He had sneaky bounce. Was a great shot blocker and got a lot of rebounds so I always had to be aware of where he was on the floor and what he was doing.

Bonn is down 2-1 in games. Can Bonn pull it out?

Yeah of course they can pull it out. They've been playing great basketball all season long. As long as TJ Shorts is involved, they have a serious chance. Absolutely. And I'm rooting for them!

University of Portland men's basketball announced the signing of Tyler Harris (Hayward, Calif./Granada HS) to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Shantay Legans announced on Wednesday. Harris helped Granada High School to the 2023 NorCal state title and is the third incoming freshman to join the Pilots for the 2023-24 season. "Tyler has polished his game and brings a dynamic skill set to our team," Legans said. "He has great size and athleticism that he utilizes very well. Tyler can do a lot of things well at both ends of the court and we're excited to get him in our system and watch him continue to improve." "The system fits me and I trust the coaching staff," Harris said of his decision to choose Portland. "Coach (Arturo) Ormond has recruited me for many years and we have gotten close. A 6-foot-7, 193-pound guard originally from Lille, France, Djobet currently attends West Oaks Academy in Orlando, Fla. He will join the Hurricanes in advance of the 2023-24 campaign. He was a member of Italian international program for some years. De Nicolao was called to Italian Senior National Team between 2014 and 2020 and previously for U20 National Team back in 2011.
He has played previously for five other teams: Varese, Benetton Treviso, Reggio Emilia, Verona and Ticino. His team won Italian Serie A Regular Season in 2013 and 2018. De Nicolao was voted to Italian Serie A All-Star Game back in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Let's have closer look into De Nicolao's outlook: A promising point guard, who hasn' t a great size, but is very quick, has good timing and leaping ability. Also, he runs yet very well a pick and roll offense. Huge upside. Year after year, he become a defensive specialist too.

But the most of that year he spent at Prometey in Ukrainian Superleague. In 23 games he got 10.7ppg, 4.0rpg and 2.3apg in that year. He contributed to his team winning the Supercup. Good season as he was also here selected League Player of the Week. He also played 15 games in Basketball Champions League where he got 10.9ppg, 4.7rpg, 3.3apg and 1.0spg in that year.
Dowe is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Belgium (Circus Brussels), France (Pau Lacq Orthez, Hyeres-Toulon and Aix Maurienne), Israel (Next Urban Maccabi Haifa and Ironi Nes Ziona), Poland (Anwil), Portugal (Sampaense) and The Basketball Tournament (Team Rondo).

Justice played this summer at City Oilers in Ugandan NBL league. In 5 Basketball Africa League games just recently he had very impressive stats: 19.0ppg, 5.4rpg, 3.6apg and 1.2spg. The last season he played at Ohod in Saudi Arabian SBL where in 19 games he recorded also remarkable stats: 28.2ppg, 6.0rpg, 3.2apg and 1.7spg.

Good season as he was named League Player of the Week and named to Asia-Basket.com All-Saudi Arabian SBL Second Team.

He is quite experienced player. Justice has played in nine different countries on four different continents (Asia, Latin America, Africa and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Canada (Titans), Qatar (Qatar Club and Al Gharafa), Tunisia (US Monastir and Club Africain), Saudi Arabia (Al Ahli), Egypt (Al Gezira and Somouha), United Arab Emirates (Al Sharjah), Dominican Republic (Metros), Libya (Ahly Tripoli) and UBA (GIE Maile M.). he was voted TranSouth Conference Player of the Year back in 2011 and 2012.

Pakistan earned their first win after defeating Maldives by a narrow margin of 65-63, in the ongoing Five Nations Championship. Out of the five participating teams, Maldives is the only yet to have a win. Maldives lost the first two games against Bangladesh and Bhutan. To earn a semi-final spot, Maldives need to see off Nepal and rely on the scoreline of the match between Bangladesh vs Nepal. A joyful crowd inside the Social Centre Indoor Court of Male, Pakistan dominated most of the game in the lead. Maldives cut down the lead of Pakistan to one point in the third quarter of the game. But, Pakistan stood strong and held their lead through old-fashioned defensive strategies. Looking at the stats, Zainab Khan (168-G) of the Pakistan team, took 22 points - the most by a single player in last night's match. For the home side, Maldives captain Ahmed Zabeer (187-G-1987) scored 10 points, whereas, Mohamed Khuwailidh Ali with 13 points and Abdulla Amzar (185-G-1995) with 12 points. He has played for the last four years at Enisey. In 28 VTB United League games he averaged 7.8ppg and 3.1rpg last season.
He was also a member of Russian international program for some years. He played for Russian Senior National Team between 2015 and 2016 and previously for U20 National Team back in 2013.
Gudumak represented Russia at the World University Games in Gwangju (South Korea) eight years ago. His team won Bronze and his stats at that event were 8 games: 7.0ppg, 4.1rpg, FGP: 51.1%, 3PT: 16.7%, FT: 50.0%.

He has played for the last three seasons at Szolnoki Olajbanyasz KK in Hungarian A Division. In 37 games he had very impressive stats: 15.1ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.5apg and 1.1spg last season. He helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. 2022-23 was a great season as he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Hungarian League Bosman Player of the Year, named to All-Bosmans Team and named to Eurobasket.com All-Hungarian League Second Team.
He is quite experienced player. Subotic has played also professionally in Estonia (Kalev/Cramo), Germany (Telekom Baskets), Serbia (Crvena Zvezda and FMP Beograd 2nd team) and Montenegro (Buducnost). He won Montenegrin League championship title in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 and the cup in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Raptors Begin to Fill Assistant Coaching Staff With First Two Hires - by Eurobasket News

With the head coaching job now finalized, the Toronto Raptors are beginning to turn their attention to the rest of the coaching staff. Former Raptors assistant Jama Mahlalela , previously of the Golden State Warriors, and Wizards assistant coach Pat Delany will reportedly be joining Toronto's staff for next season, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The two become head coach Darko Rajakovi's first assistant coaches hired, joining returning Raptors assistant Jim Sann as the only members of the coaching staff so far.
Mahlalela was an assistant on Toronto's staff from 2013 to 2018 before taking over as the head coach of the Raptors 905 for two seasons. He then returned to Toronto's staff in 2020-21 before leaving for Golden State.
Delany has been with the Wizards since 2021. Prior to that he worked for Orlando, Charlotte, and Miami. It's unclear how many assistants Toronto is looking to hire for next season. The team had one of the largest coaching staffs in the NBA last year but that is not expected to continue. Former assistant coach Adrian Griffin has left to take over the head coaching job for the Milwaukee Bucks, taking with him former Raptors assistant Nate Mitchell. Rico Hines, meanwhile, has joined Nick Nurse's coaching staff in Philadelphia.

The New Orleans Pelicans parted ways with assistant coach Teresa Weatherspoon on Thursday, sources told Andrew Lopez of ESPN. Weatherspoon, who worked closely with Zion Williamson, was initially hired to the Pelicans staff in 2019. The Pelicans, who hired James Borrego as associate head coach this offseason, retained Jarron Collins as an assistant. The team is also looking to restructure its player care and development team.

Michael Jordan Agrees To Sell Majority Share Of Hornets - by Eurobasket News

The Hornets have put out a press release confirming that Michael Jordan has reached an agreement to sell the majority share of the franchise to a group led by Plotkin and Schnall. According to Wojnarowski, the team is being valued at approximately $3 billion in the sale. In addition to the names listed below, the new ownership group will include tech investor Ian Loring and several North Carolina natives, including recording artists J. Cole and Eric Church, per the Hornets. The team added that Schnall is in the process of selling his minority stake in the Hawks, which will likely be completed within the next few weeks.

Ja Morant Suspended For 25 Games - by Eurobasket News

The NBA has suspended Grizzlies guard Ja Morant (6'3''-G-1999, college: Murray St.) for 25 games, sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic. Morant, who will serve the suspension at the start of the 2023/24 season, will have to meet certain conditions to return to action, tweets Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The league has put out a formal statement officially confirming Charania's and Wojnarowski's reporting. Morant's suspension stems from an Instagram Live video that went viral last month. The Grizzlies star wielded a gun in that video, less than two-and-a-half months after he was suspended for eight games when a video showed him waving a gun around at a Colorado strip club. Memphis suspended Morant indefinitely after his latest off-court incident while the NBA investigated the video and weighed its response. Commissioner Adam Silver told reporters at the start of the Finals on June 1 that the league would wait until after the season ended to make an announcement on the results of its investigation. In its press release on Friday, the NBA said that Morant 'intentionally and prominently' displayed a gun in the May 13 social media video, 'knowing that he was being recorded and that the recording was being live streamed on Instagram Live.' A significant factor in the decision to suspend the 23-year-old for 25 games is the fact that he 'made commitments to the NBA and (in) public statements that he would not repeat the conduct for which he was previously disciplined,' per the league. 'Ja Morant's decision to once again wield a firearm on social media is alarming and disconcerting given his similar conduct in March for which he was already suspended eight games,' Silver said in a statement. 'The potential for other young people to emulate Ja's conduct is particularly concerning. Under these circumstances, we believe a suspension of 25 games is appropriate and makes clear that engaging in reckless and irresponsible behavior with guns will not be tolerated. 'For Ja, basketball needs to take a back seat at this time. Prior to his return to play, he will be required to formulate and fulfill a program with the league that directly addresses the circumstances that led him to repeat this destructive behavior.' Morant and the Grizzlies each released official responses to the NBA's announcement. The team's press release is brief: 'We respect the league's decision to suspend Ja Morant following this latest episode. Our standards as a league and team are clear, and we expect that all team personnel will adhere to them.' In a lengthier statement, Morant expressed remorse for his behavior and vowed to be better going forward, per Wojnarowski: 'I've had time to reflect and I realize how much hurt I've caused. I want to apologize to the NBA, the Grizzlies, my teammates and the city of Memphis. Prior to these gun-related videos in March and April, Morant was involved in a series of troubling off-court incidents. He punched a 17-year-old during a pickup game last summer, was accused of threatening a security guard at a Memphis mall, and was reportedly involved in a confrontation with members of the Pacers' traveling party after a January game. Although law enforcement looked into some of those allegations, Morant hasn't faced any criminal charges. Still, the NBA has significant latitude to fine or suspend its players for conduct it deems detrimental to the league. Silver spoke earlier this month about the NBA's focus being on 'gun safety' rather than whether any local laws are being broken. Morant was his usual productive self for the Grizzlies on the court in 2022/23, averaging 26.2 points, 8.1 assists, and 5.9 rebounds per game in 61 regular season contests (31.9 MPG). For the first 25 games of next season, Memphis will likely turn to Tyus Jones as its starting point guard; the team also figures to seek additional depth at the position this summer. Morant's five-year, maximum-salary contract extension with the team will go into effect in '23/24 and is projected to be worth $33.5MM in year one. The two-time All-Star will lose 1/110th of his 2023/24 salary for each game of his suspension. That works out to $7,613,636 in forfeited salary if next season's salary cap comes in at $134MM as projected.

The Golden State Warriors have hired Mike Dunleavy Jr. as the franchise's new general manager. Dunleavy replaces Bob Myers, who stepped down from the role following this past season. Dunleavy played in the NBA for 15 seasons. He started his career with the Warriors, but also played for the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks. Following his playing career, Dunleavy joined Golden State as a scout in 2018. A year later, he was promoted to assistant general manager. In 2021, Dunleavy was promoted to vice president of basketball operations. He'll now run the Warriors front office, as the primary decision maker.

Lino received All-Northwest Conference Player of the Year award. He was also voted to All-NWC First Team, NABC Division III All-District 10 First Team and D3hoops.com All-Region 10 Second Team. Breidenbach graduated Mater Dei High School (Santa Ana, CA) in 2021. He played also for Team WhyNot (CA) in AAU.
Among many awards he was voted to Pangos All-West Frosh/Soph Nominee in 2018. Manhattan College strengthened their roster with addition of 6-9 forward Daniel Rouzan for season 2023-24. Rouzan originally came from Las Vegas (NV), and he is moving here from Weber State University where he played only for one year. In 28 games he recorded 3.2ppg and 1.9rpg. Wildcats made it to the Big Sky Conference Tournament Semifinals this year.
He graduated Bishop Gorman High School (Las Vegas, NV) in 2022.
Among many awards he was voted to Pangos All-West Frosh/Soph Nominee in 2018. His team won Nevada Class 4A Championship in 2019. Wildcats also won NIAA Nevada Class 4A Championship in 2020.

Nepal national basketball team defeated Pakistan 66-62 in their second match of the Five Nation Basketball Championship in Maldives on Thursday. Nepal bounced back in the last two quarters to register their first victory in the tournament. Nepal fell 15-11 behind in the first quarter, while Pakistan extended the lead to five points after they won the second period 18-17. Nepal added 21 points in the third quarter and restricted Pakistan to 12 points to take a 49-45 lead going into the final period. Both teams netted 17 points each in the final period as Nepal completed the victory. In the first match, Nepal faced a 61-55 defeat at the hands of Bhutan. Nepal will play against Bangladesh on Saturday and face Maldives on Sunday. Top four teams will advance to the semi-finals.

Defending champion Fribourg Olympic (SBL) tabbed 28-year old American 187cm guard Eric Nottage (college: FIU) for new season. Nottage played most recently at Rabotnicki in North Macedonian Prva Liga. In 25 games he averaged 10.0ppg, 4.7rpg, 4.9apg and 2.4spg (leader !!!) last season. He can count that season as a very successful as was awarded Eurobasket.com All-North Macedonian League Co-Defensive Player of the Year and voted to Honorable Mention.
The previous (2021-22) season he played at Lions de Geneve in Swiss SBL where in 20 games he had 10.9ppg, 6.1rpg, 4.6apg and 2.6spg (leader !!!) in that year. Nottage helped them to make it to the semifinals. He also played for Dinamo in Romanian Liga Nationala. In 6 games he recorded 5.2ppg, 4.0rpg, 3.0apg and 1.3spg in that year. The other team he played shortly was Olympique Antibes in French ProB. In three games he got 10.3ppg, 4.3rpg and 4.0apg in that year.
Nottage has played also professionally in Georgia (Delta), Slovakia (Spisski Rytieri) and Switzerland (Massagno).
He won Georgian League championship title in 2019.
Nottage attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on he way to pro basketball.
He graduated from Florida International University in 2017 and it will be his seventh season in pro basketball. Nottage played also for Tallahassee Community College for 2 years.

The last season he played at Leopards in Taiwanese T1 League where in 5 games he had very remarkable stats: 30.8ppg, 8.6rpg, 4.6apg and 2.0spg.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
Williams is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in four different countries playing on three different continents. He is familiar with European, Asian and of course North American leagues. Williams has played previously professionally in Italy (Pesaro), Turkey (Besiktas), NBA (New Orleans Pelicans, Houston Rockets, NY Knicks, Sacramento Kings and Memphis Grizzlies) and NBA G League (RGV Vipers, Iowa Wolves and Stockton Kings).

Anwil Wloclawek (EBL) tabbed 29-year old international 197cm swingman Jakub Garbacz for new season. Garbacz has played for the last two years at Stal in the EBL. Garbacz also played 10 games in European North Basketball League where he had 13.6ppg, 2.8rpg and 1.0apg. He contributed to his team winning the European North Basketball League championship.
Garbacz has been also a member of Polish international program for some years. He has regularly played for Polish senior team since 2021 and previously for U18 National Team back in 2012.

The most important game in the last round took place in San German between second ranked Atleticos (21-14) and fifth ranked Leones (17-19) on Thursday night. Atleticos were defeated by Leones in a tough game at home 88-92. Leones made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) who scored 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American center Thomas Robinson (208-1991, college: Kansas) chipped in 23 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (201-1995, college: Arizona) who recorded a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 8 assists. Atleticos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Leones have an impressive nine-game winning streak. It was a good game for the former international Javier Mojica (189-1984, college: CCSU) who led his team to a victory with 24 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Angel Rodriguez contributed with 16 points for the winners. The former international power forward Isaiah Manderson (208-1994, college: S.Florida, agency: BIG) replied with 21 points and 5 rebounds for Gigantes. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first position with 24-12 record. In the last game of round 42 Arecibo crushed Manati in a road game 107-80.

He played in the final of Adriatic League in 2016 and 2022.

In 2016 he was drafted by Boston Celtics (NBA) in second round (35th overall).

Szabo started his college career at Cochise College (JUCO). Then he moved to University of Texas at Tyler (NCAA2).
He represented Slovakia at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U20 Division B in Sofia (Bulgaria) five years ago. His stats at that event were 6 games: 12.7ppg, 6.0rpg, FGP: 65.5%, FT: 30.8%.

American Guard Jeremy Smith (190-G-1991) put on an amazing game in the last round for City Wings, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 31-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Dolphins (#6, 0-1), the league's bottom-ranked team 77-72. Thanks to this victory City Wings moved-up to the 4th position in Vietnamese VBA. City Wings is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-1 record. Smith just recently signed at City Wings and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Former Nicholls State University star has very solid stats this year. ZKK Pula (Premijer Liga) inked 22-year old Bosnian 186cm center Merjema Bucuk for upcoming season. Bucuk played most recently at Jedinstvo in Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I. In 9 games she averaged 11.2ppg and 9.3rpg last season. A very good year in her career as she was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Bosnia and Herzegovina Honorable Mention. She also played for CS BC Sirius Targu Mures in Romanian Liga Nationala. But in 9 games she had just 1.1ppg and 2.1rpg.
Bucuk represented Bosnia at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U16 Division B in Skopje (North Macedonia) six years ago. Her stats at that event were 8 games: 0.9ppg, 3.3rpg.
She is a very experienced player. Bucuk has played also professionally in France (Besancon), Slovenia (Maribor) and North Macedonia (Shkupi).

Panteras smashed Thunder at home 109-32. Panteras held Thunder to an opponent 22.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 57.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Panteras forced 24 Thunder turnovers and outrebounded them 50-24 including a 35-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Thunder's players. Guard Heimy Lopez (167-2004) stepped up and scored 27 points for the winners and Valeria Castro (170-2001) chipped in 19 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Panteras' coach Richard Mejias felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Alia Hasbun responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds.
Santa Emilia recorded a loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by Teclenas 77-61. Shooting guard Valeria Castro (170-SG-2001) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Panteras, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 21-year old player was the main contributor (19 points, two rebounds and five assists) to her team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Thunder (#7, 0-1) with 77-point margin 109-32. It allowed Panteras to take over top position in the Salvadorean Liga Superior. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Panteras won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Castro had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. She just recently signed at Panteras and it was her first game, where she immediately became new team's leader. Valeria Castro has solid league stats. She is in league's top in points (4th best: 19.0ppg), assists (4th best: 5.0apg) and averages impressive 5.0spg and 66.7% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was Katherine Romero of Santa Emilia. Romero had a very good evening with a double-double of 25 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Santa Emilia lost that game 61-77 to Teclenas (1-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Romero is one of the most experienced players at Santa Emilia and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.0ppg (#2). She also registered 17.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Panteras' star - guard Heimy Lopez (167-G-2004). Lopez scored 27 points. She was another key player of Panteras, helping her team with a 109-32 easy win against Thunder (#7, 0-1). Panteras has a very good start of the season. But there was just one game played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Lopez also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. The season just started for Lopez as she played only first game. But it already looks like she can be another team's leader.

Hungary led for the bigger part of the game. They established an 18-13 lead after ten minutes. Hungary extended the lead in the second period. They piled up a 34-26 halftime advantage. Hungary kept Turkey at bay throughout the third period. They entered the fourth quarter up by nine points 51-42. But Turkey stepped on the gas in the final frame. They unloaded 27 points and got away with a crucial win at the end. Teaira McCowan (201-C-1996, college: MSU) delivered 14 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. The third quarter was decisive in the game as Greece needed a 24-13 surge to seal the win. Anna Stamolamprou (175-G-1995, college: RMU) and Aleksa Gulbe (190-F-2000, college: Indiana)e were the last players to score for their teams.

France opened the game with a 19-11 run and led 3 points at the halftime. Great Britain levelled things up at 35 apiece early in the third via a Fagbenle lay-up. France meanwhile won the third quarter 15-11 and did not mind a narrow 19-22 loss at the very end.
Mamignan Toure (183-SG-1994) stepped up with 15 points and Valeriane Vukosavljevic (183-F-1994) delivered 11. Sandrine Gruda (193-C-1987) collected 11 points in the winning effort. Sonja Greinacher (190-F/C-1992, college: Gonzaga) and Marie Guelich (194-C-1994, college: Oregon St.) paced Germany past Slovenia in Day 2 of the EuroBasket 2023. They scored 12 points each as Germany celebrated a 66-62 win to improve to a 1-1 record. Slovenia meanwhile fell at 0-2 record at the bottom of the Group C. Slovenia opened the game with a 17-14 run, whilst the guests replied with an 18-13 rally in the second quarter. Slovenia once again took the lead with a 15-10 run as Zala Friskovec (179-G-1999) scored for 45-40 and then Leonie Fiebich (193-SF-2000) sent the teams to the lockers. The fourth period meanwhile belonged to Germany that dominated the court. They closed the game with a final 24-17 rally to seal the win.

Spain dominated in the first half. They recorded a 19-14 lead after ten minutes. Spain extended the lead in the second frame. They established a 42-29 halftime advantage. Montenegro revived the intrigue in the third period. The Balkan team went on a 22-10 run to pull within one point at the final intermission. But Spain bounced back with a 26-6 rally in the fourth stanza to ice the victory. Alba Torrens (188-G/F-1989) notched 11 points in the win. Marija Lekovic (170-PG-2003) answered with 15 points, while Milica Jovanovic (189-F-1989) had 13 points in the loss.

USA claimed the third consecutive win in Merida as they stunned the hosts. Six players scored in double digits for the winners. Jayla Jackson (185-F-2008) and Jerzy Robinson (185-G-2008) scored 17 points each for the USA. The North American team grabbed a 71-17 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the win. Sandra Acuna (168-G-2007) replied with 6 points for Mexico.

Puerto Rico - Colombia 67-62
Puerto Rico held off Colombia to finish in the second position in Group A. Colombia enjoyed a 39-32 halftime lead. But Puerto Rico limited their opponents to just 23 points in the second half and snatched a tough win at the end. Jaida Guerra (155-SG-2007) tossed in 21 points, while Desirek Nieves (170-SG-2007) had 18 points and 11 rebounds for Puerto Rico. Marta Moscarella (180-F-2007) replied with 22 points for Colombia.

Brazil toppled Dominican Republic to gain the first win in Mexico. Micaela Cavalcanti (164-PG-2008) nailed 19 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and issued 7 assists for the winners. Brazil opened the game on a 25-13 run. They followed with a 20-9 rally in the third term to clear off for good. Sofia Borges (180-F-2007) had 15 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Arianna Mercado (165-G-2007) tossed in 15 points for Dominican Republic.

Canada stormed past Argentina for the third straight win at the tournament. Deniya Prawl (182-G-2007) produced 15 points for the winners. Canada grabbed a 44-30 halftime advantage. They went on a 30-9 run in the third term to take an unassailable lead. Chance Berry (176-G-2009) provided 14 points for the winning side. Sol Depetris (170-SG-2007) answered with 9 points for Argentina.

Cadi La Seu (LF Endesa) signed 26-year old Icelandic international forward Sara Hinriksdottir (185cm-1996, college: Canisius) for upcoming 2023-24 season. Hinriksdottir played last season at E-Work Faenza in Italian Serie A1. In 29 games she had 8.8ppg, 2.2rpg, 1.1apg and 1.0spg.
Her team won Icelandic League Regular Season in 2012 and 2013.
The previous (2021-22) season she played at Phoenix Stiinta Constanta in Romanian Liga Nationala where in 28 games she recorded 14.0ppg, 6.6rpg, 2.8apg and 1.8spg in that year. She helped them to make it to the semifinals. 2021-22 was a great season as she was named to Eurobasket.com All-Romanian League Honorable Mention.
Hinriksdottir has been also a member of Icelandic international program for some years. She has regularly played for Icelandic senior team since 2013 and previously for U16 National Team back in 2012.
Hinriksdottir represented Iceland at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U18 Division B for Women in Romania nine years ago. Her stats at that event were 8 games: Score-2 (20.8ppg), Reb-4 (12.0rpg), 3.4apg, 2.6spg, FGP: 46.2%, 3PT: 26.2%, FT: 86.0%.
She has played previously professionally in United Kingdom (Riders) and Iceland (Haukar).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others she was voted Eurobasket.com All-English WBBL Forward of the Year back in 2020.
Hinriksdottir graduated from Canisius College in 2019 and it will be her fifth season as a professional player. Her team won Icelandic League Regular Season in 2012 and 2013.

Fila San Martino Di Lupari (Serie A1) added to their roster 32-year old Latvian power forward Liga Vente (190cm-1991, college: Eckerd) for season 2023-24. Vente played last season at Brixia Basket Brescia. In 14 Serie A1 games in Italy she recorded 7.7ppg and 6.1rpg. She also played for Picken Claret in Spanish LF Challenge where in 11 games she averaged 10.9ppg and 6.1rpg.
Vente has played previously professionally also in Germany (Hannover) and Italy (Faenza, Castellammare, Udine, Crema and Milano).
She graduated from Eckerd College in 2014 and it will be her tenth season as a professional player. Vente played also for Colby County Community College for 2 years.

Sportiva/AzorisHotels Ponta Delgada (Liga Feminina) agreed terms with 23-year old American swingman Audrey Warren (175cm-1999) for new 2023-24 season. Warren just graduated from Georgia (NCAA). In 32 games she had 7.9ppg, 3.2rpg, 2.2apg and 1.4spg last season.
She started her college career at The University of Texas (NCAA) where she played four seasons. Then she moved to University of Georgia (NCAA). Her high school career she had spent at Boswell in Fort Worth, TX.
As mentioned above she is just out of college, so it will be Warren's first season as a professional player. Her team made it to the Big 12 Tournament Semifinals in 2019 and 2021.

BBC Les Portes du Soleil Troistorrents (SBL) confirmed in their roster 16-year old point guard Elisa Moix (171cm-2006) for new 2023-24 season. Moix has played there for the last two seasons. She helped them to make it to the semifinals.

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: Malvin (#1) and 25 de Agosto (#4). 25 de Agosto was smashed at home by 24 points 49-73 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Malvin outrebounded 25 de Agosto 42-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was Argentinian Maria Jourdheuil (180-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Florencia Somma (175-1988) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Sabrina Molina (179-1998) produced 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Malvin (9-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position. 25 de Agosto at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Hebraica. Argentinian point guard Julieta Sienra (161-2003) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Agustina Bazan contributed with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Yale's coach Gino Alderete allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Paraguayan forward Paloma Niz (175-1999) replied with 10 points and 9 rebounds for D.Sporting. Yale maintains sixth position with 4-5 record. D.Sporting at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. Yale's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Malvin.

Martina Marino responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Aguada moved-up to third place. Loser Hebraica dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with 25 de Agosto. Aguada will meet at home 25 de Agosto (#5) in the next round. Hebraica will play against Juventud in Las Piedras and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 8 winless Juventud was crushed by Remeros in Mercedes 76-54. Urunday beat Lagomar at home 70-65.

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Hebraica (7-3) against fifth ranked Aguada (7-2) on Thursday night. Host Hebraica was defeated by Aguada in Montevideo 59-47. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Hebraica. They outrebounded Hebraica 54-41 including 18 on the offensive glass. Aguada looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Sofia Herrera (179-2005) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 20 rebounds and guard Camila Kirschenbaum (170-2002, college: Binghamton) who added 21 points and 4 assists during the contest. Forward Martina Marino (170-2005) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Argentinian Abril Ramirez (167-2000) scored 7 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Aguada moved-up to third place. Loser Hebraica dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with 25 de Agosto. Aguada will meet at home 25 de Agosto (#5) in the next round. The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Juventud's (0-9) road loss to ninth ranked Remeros (2-8) 54-76 on Sunday. Remeros forced 37 Juventud turnovers and had a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Julieta Laubert who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Romina Giossa who added 7 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Forward Karina Acosta (-1986) responded with a triple-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and Marcela Olivera (-1984) scored 6 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Remeros moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Urunday. Loser Juventud still closes the standings with nine games lost. Remeros will meet higher ranked Lagomar (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Juventud will play against Hebraica and hopes to get finally their first victory.

There was a small surprise in Montevideo where ninth ranked Urunday (2-8) defeated 7th ranked Lagomar (2-7) 70-65 on Saturday. Urunday forced 19 Lagomar turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Gabriela Piriz (158-1988) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and forward Fiorella Garbarino (159-1991) who added 12 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Paraguayan forward Natalia Quevedo (170-1998) responded with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Leticia Menendez (164-1995) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Four Lagomar players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Urunday moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Remeros. Karina Acosta gets MVP of the Week award for Uruguayan Liga Femenina (by Hoops Agents) - by Eurobasket News

Experienced Karina Acosta (F-1986) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Juventud and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 36-year old forward had a double-double of 37 points and eleven rebounds, while her team lost the game against Remeros (#8, 2-8) 54-76. Juventud maintains the 10th position in Uruguayan Liga Femenina. They are still not able to win a single game in the league yet. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Juventud have already lost 9 games and recorded no victories. Acosta just recently signed at Juventud, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Acosta has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (2nd best: 18.8ppg), rebounds (6th best: 8.9rpg) and averages solid 1.6bpg and 5.3spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Paraguayan forward Paloma Niz (175-F-1999) of second-ranked D.Sporting. Niz impressed basketball fans with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as D.Sporting lost that game 48-64 to the lower-ranked Yale (#6, 4-5). D.Sporting managed to keep the same second spot in the standings. It was just her team's 2nd loss this season, while they won 8 other games. Niz is one of the most experienced players at D.Sporting and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.3ppg (#9). Her other stats are also decent: 5.6rpg and 3.3apg.

The third best performed player last round was Sofia Herrera (179-SG-2005) of Aguada (#3). Herrera scored 11 points and grabbed twenty rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Aguada, leading her team to a 59-47 win against #4 ranked Hebraica in a game of the week. Aguada needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 2 lost games. Herrera has a very solid season. In 8 games in Uruguay she scored 9.5ppg. She also has 7.5rpg, 2.1spg and FGP: 51.7%.

Destanni Henderson joins LA Sparks - by Eurobasket News

Los Angeles Sparks agreed terms with 23-year old ex-international guard Destanni Henderson (5'7''-1999, college: S.Carolina). Henderson played this summer at Indiana Fever (WNBA).
Last year she was drafted by Indiana Fever (WNBA) in second round (20th overall).
She graduated from University of South Carolina in 2022 and it will be her third season in pro basketball.
Henderson also represented USA at the World Championships U17 in Zaragoza (Spain) seven years ago. Henderson's team won Bronze and her stats at that event were 7 games: 7.1ppg, 4.4rpg, Assists-2 (5.0apg), 2.0spg, FGP: 28.0%, 3PT: 15.8%, FT: 76.5%. Her team won SEC Tournament in 2020 and 2021.

Young made a 3-pointer to cap a 12-0 run for a 43-35 lead with 1:07 left in the second quarter. The Aces extended it to 47-37 at the break after Kelsey Plum (5'8''-PG-1994, college: Washington) made a scoop shot before the buzzer. Young, Plum and Wilson all scored in double figures in the first half as Las Vegas shot 56% from the field. Young scored 12 points in the third quarter to help Las Vegas build a 67-52 lead entering the fourth.Gray's behind-the-back assist to Kierstan Bell (6'1''-G-2000, college: FGCU) made it 84-59.
