Edmonton managed to keep the same 6th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-9 record. Hornsby is one of the most experienced players at Edmonton and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. The third best performed player last round was American Justin Wright-Foreman (183-PG-1997) of Saskatchewan (#8). Wright-Foreman showcased his all-around game by recording 29 points, five rebounds and nine assists in the last round. He was a key player of Saskatchewan, leading his team to a 99-96 win against the higher-ranked Winnipeg (#2, 10-6). The chances of Saskatchewan ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Wright-Foreman could help Saskatchewan to bring them higher in the standings. Wright-Foreman has a very solid season. In 13 games in CEBL he scored 29.9ppg. He also has 5.4rpg, 4.6apg, FGP: 57.0% and 3PT: 47.4%. Other top performing players last week: 4. E.J. Anosike (201-G/F-1998) of Winnipeg - 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Koby McEwen (193-G-1997) of Brampton - 16 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists 6. David Muenkat (201-F-2000) of Scarborough - 21 points and 9 rebounds 7. Adong Makuoi (206-C) of Saskatchewan - 15 points and 10 rebounds 8. Nick Ward (203-F-1997) of Vancouver - 15 points and 10 rebounds 9. Jackson Rowe (201-PF-1997) of Ottawa - 26 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Kalif Young (206-C-1997) of Scarborough - 14 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

He spoke to eurobasket about the Vechta championship season. Thanks Tajuan for talking to eurobasket.com. Congrats on winning your first pro title as a rookie with Rasta Vechta. If someone had told you in September you will be Pro A champ what would you have thought? Honestly, from the jump that was the goal for us all. Coach Ty and the staff did a great job of making sure that we understood the goal. And I think we as the players did a great job of buying in to that as well. How rapidly did you notice in the fall that there was a winning culture in Vechta? What is so special about the organization Rasta Vechta that you won't see in other places in the last 2 years? Rasta has always been a top Pro A organization. And played really well in the BBL as well. So that energy of winning and the high expectation of the fans for us to compete and put all on the line every night makes it hard not to win honestly. The club went into the season with high expectations and rolled over the competition. How important was it for your game coming into this winning culture and performing well at a high level? The organization believed in me as far as my ability but also to be our heart and soul. I wasn't a captain but they allowed me to be our energy giver and I think that helped some guys stay motivated. The Pro A finals are always 2 games with the winner having the best scores in the 2 games. How strange was that 78-78 score in game 1? Were you still waiting for the OT period to come? Really strange, I don't think in my whole career of being a student of the game and playing that I've ever seen that. But it was cool I guess we believed in ourselves at home. Was the 78-78 more an advantage or disadvantage from your perspective for Rasta Vechta or for the Tigers? You as a team must of felt very confident with the incredible fans going into the second game? We were undefeated at home until that point so we were reasonably confident also understanding that Tubigen is a dangerous squad. Vechta had the 8 point lead in the fourth quarter but the guests made a furious comeback and trailed only 63-61. What do you remember going through your head at that time? They went zone for a while, so we just needed to make some adjustments to our offense to score some easy buckets to deter them from the zone. How was the celebration night? When did you finally go to sleep and what will you never forget from the party night? It was fun just hanging with those guys, I've made like brothers like real family on this team who I'll talk to forever. I think that's more important than any championship, we came together as a unit and got it done! We genuinely enjoyed being around each other. Rasta Vechta reminded me a lot of top Pro B EPG Baskets Koblenz who won the pro B title. They like you had a very deep and talented roster. They had an incredible chemistry. What was your team's biggest strength? Our competitive nature, we competed in absolutely everything. And sometimes practices were more competive than games. We competed healthily though and we weren't between them lines we were family again, it was a true joy to be a part of. Two of the team's main components were Joel Aminu and Ryan Schwieger. Talk a little about what you appreciated most from them on the court? Joel and Ryan are two of the guys I became really close with on the team. Two of the most talented guys in the league. We just believed in each other though and if it was another guys night I think we did a pretty good job of continuously finding him. Who was the team unsung hero and who improved the most from the young Americans? I think the guy who doesn't get a lot of the credit he deserves is Naz Bohannon. Just does the dirty work guards 1-4, rebounds, pushes the break, dives on loose balls. Just a great guy to have on a team and for sure changed our culture for the good as well. That was our Dennis Rodman essentially. Let's talk about your game. You averaged 14/7/3 stats and shot 38% form outside. How would you summarize your season from your perspective? Just doing whatever we needed when we needed it. Coach believed in me to do that as well which made it a lot easier. But sometimes Joel, Ryan, or Joschka was hot so I was just needed to rebound and defend. That's the good part of being a part of such a deep team is that your role changes and sometimes that can be within a game. My goal is always to be able to affect the game in many different ways. You easily played your best and most efficient season in your career dating back past your Iona days. How vital was having the whole Vechta culture and talent there to allow you to perform so well? Vechta allowed me to mature here, from last year to this year I feel I've gotten better. And that's a credit to the organization that Vechta is! You played in the highest league so far in your career. Speak a little how vital head coach Ty Harrellson was for your further development as a player? Ty was essential, he's a players dream. Allows guys to be themselves within the realms of the offense of course. But he does a great job of not putting cuffs on guys if you're putting in the work. Are you ready to play in the easyCredit BBL? On what area's of your game do you need to work hardest on this summer so you will be best prepared for the next step? Taking care of the ball is essential next year. At higher levels 2 or 3 turnovers could be the difference in a game. Although I saw ALOT of double teams that's something I definitely have to watch film on make the adjustments. But also my jumpshot, over the years I've locked in on getting it more consistent. Showed a little bit of progression this year but I think there's still space to improve there. You had many great games this season but where do you rank your 26 points against Tubeingen in the thrilling 79-77 win in January? I was hyped for that game with them being right behind us at the number 2 spot. I would put that up there with one of my best games this year. Who was the toughest player that you faced in the German pro A this season? Jordan Barnes easily, small guard who shoots it with the best of them. Was always entertaining playing against them because I know him and we chirp back and forth a little bit. You played 2 seasons of JUCO at Tyler Junior College (JUCO) averaging 6.0ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.6apg, FGP: 40.5%, 3PT: 31.6%, FT: 67.7% and 10.1ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.7apg, FGP: 45.5%, 3PT: 22.2%, FT: 72.6%. Every JUCO player I have interviewed said it was a tough experience but one that they would never have traded the world for. How was it for you? Amazing, some of my best friends in the world are Juco teammates. How instrumental was Mike Marquis in your early development as a player? How did he make you NCAA ready? He prepared me for the business aspect of basketball. I credit a lot of my success to being at Tyler. How did coaches Tim Cluess and Tra Arnold groom and prepare you best for a professional career? Tim Cluess is my favorite coach EVER, but those two guys were key pieces to me being success both in college and as a pro! If it wasn't for those two I don't if I would be a pro. They were the first coaches to allow me to show my full arsenal of skills. Who won a 1-1 in practice you or EJ Crawford? Me of course, Ej is my brother and we always competed but I'm going to go with me. Who was your toughest player you face din the NCAA that reached the NBA? Cam Young is in the G league, he was a super tough bucket at Quinnipiac Please name your 5 best teammates of all-time? Rickey McGill Joel Aminu EJ Crawford Eden Ewing Please name your NBA Mount Rushmore? MJ Lebron Kobe Shaq Who is your basketball GOAT? Lebron hope I can move like him at 40. Thanks Tajuan for the chat. |

Holden became the second player in program history to record a triple-double for Towson (24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists), exemplifying his ability to control the tempo of games and make an impact on both sides of the court. The 23-year old also achieved first team all-CAA honors and named in his conference's all-defensive team. Holden's former head coach, Pat Skerry, said: 'Holden played with a broken jaw last year. Not a lot of guys will do that. He's not a guy who worries about load management, he just goes. 'Cameron Holden is by far the highest IQ guy I have been around. He sees a lot of stuff sometimes we miss as coaches.' Holden's versatility and determination offers him plenty of opportunity to make his mark in the British Basketball League as he looks to leave his own mark in his first year at professional level. [Cameron Holden said: ] 'I am very excited to start my professional career in the BBL and to be part of the Cheshire Phoenix. I believe that coach Ben and I both have the same vision for the club and I couldn't pass up the opportunity not to play for a coach like him. I can't wait to go out there, compete for this club and give it my all with my teammates on the court!' [Ben Thomas, Cheshire Phoenix's Head Coach, said: ] 'I am really excited about Cam joining the Phoenix, we really believe he is one of the most unique players we have signed. His career in the NCAA took a big swing last season where he started playing at Point Guard and did a really great job. With his size and ability to play four different positions on the floor, it makes him a nightmare for the opposition and we are looking forward to utilizing that to win games next season.' |

His other stats are also decent: 17.0rpg and 3.5apg. The third best performed player last round was American Jeremy Smith (190-G-1991) of City Wings (#6). Smith scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Despite Smith's great performance City Wings lost 63-94 to the higher-ranked Buffaloes (#2, 6-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. City Wings can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-5 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Smith he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Smith has individually a great season in Vietnam. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 27.2ppg (2nd best) and assists with 4.7apg (5th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Sameen Swint (193-G-1995) of Warriors - 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists 5. Udun Osakue (198-F-1992) of Buffaloes - 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists 6. Triet Huynh Andre (191-G-2004) of Dragons - 16 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists 7. JR Holder (198-SG-1994) of Dragons - 13 points and 10 rebounds 8. Justin Young (193-PF-1993) of Warriors - 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists 9. Cong Dinh Tien (186-SG-1996) of Buffaloes - 15 points and 4 assists 10. Will Tran (F-1998) of Dragons - 11 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.

Hillsman's double-double lands her Player of the Week award - by Eurobasket News
She had a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds, while her team outclassed Indias (#4, 1-3) with 58-point margin 86-28. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Flint LM to consolidate first place in the United Cup. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Flint LM already had a very good start winning all 4 without losing a single one. Hillsman has many years of experience at Flint LM, through which she has constantly improved. Texas A&M University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Hillsman is in league's top in points (5th best: 12.0ppg) and averages solid 1.8bpg. Second best performed player last round was Yadira Polanco (178-G/F-1992) of Fenix. She is a swingman in her first season at Fenix. In the last game Polanco recorded impressive 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Fenix lost that game 56-67 to Immortals (2-2). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Polanco is one of the most experienced players at Fenix and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 12.3ppg (#4). She also registered 9.3 boards per game. Third place about best performers goes to swingman Jennifer Pena (175-G/F-1993) of league's second-best Immortals. Pena scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds. She was a key player of Immortals, leading her team to a 67-56 win against #3 ranked Fenix in a game of the week. Immortals needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 2 victories and 2 lost games. Pena has a great season in United Cup. After only 4 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.5ppg (best scorer), rebounds with 5.3rpg (9th best) and assists with 2.3apg (6th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Toccara Ross (185-F-1986) of Immortals - 15 points and 10 rebounds 5. Kristina Puthoff-King (180-PG-1992) of Immortals - 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists 6. Ameryst Alston (175-G-1993) of Flint LM - 17 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Asia Boyd (185-F-1992) of Flint LM - 4 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists 8. Da'Nasia Hood (185-F) of Flint LM - 16 points and 5 rebounds 9. Dariana Santos (180-F-1991) of Fenix - 12 points and 5 rebounds 10. Brandie Baker-Cunningham (188-F-1990) of Flint LM - 4 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. Round 4: Fenix is defeated by Indias in a derby game - by Eurobasket News
The Regular Season in United Cup just ended. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management. The most interesting game of round 4 was a derby match between two teams from Dominican Republic. Fourth ranked Indias won against visiting Fenix (1-3) 50-46. Worth to mention a great performance of Vanesa Bautista who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 8 rebounds and Katerin Sena who added 8 points during the contest. At the losing side swingman Yadira Polanco (178-1992) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Indias left bottom position moving up to third place, which they share with defeated Fenix. Very significant was American Lady Monarchs' (#1, 4-0) victory against their biggest opponent Dominican Rep. Immortals (2-2) 80-75. The winners were led by center Khaalia Hillsman (195-1996, college: Texas A&M) who scored that evening 12 points and 8 rebounds and Aliyah Mazyck supported her with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Even 26 points and 6 rebounds by American swingman Jennifer Pena (175-1993, college: Missouri S&T) did not help to save the game for Immortals. Lady Monarchs have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Immortals at the other side keep the second place with two games lost.

Best players of United Cup round 2 (by Hoops Agents) - by Eurobasket News
The 31-year old swingman had the game-high 9 points adding ten rebounds and two assists for Fenix in her team's victory, helping them to beat Indias (#4, 0-3), the league's bottom-ranked team 64-57. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Thanks to this victory Fenix moved-up to the 3rd position in United Cup. Fenix is currently ranked second from the bottom. They need more victories to improve their 1-2 record. Polanco has many years of experience at Fenix, through which she has constantly improved. Polanco has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (3rd best: 13.0ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 9.0rpg), assists (7th best: 2.0apg) and averages solid 2.0bpg and 2.7spg. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Fenix's star - young forward Dariana Santos (180-F-1991). Santos impressed basketball fans with 21 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course Fenix cruised to a 64-57 relatively comfortable win over Indias (0-3). The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Santos is one of the most experienced players at Fenix and similarly like Yadira Polanco has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 12.7ppg (#4). She also registered 4.3 boards per game. Puthoff-King showcased her all-around game by recording 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the last round. Despite Puthoff-King's great performance Immortals lost 37-74 to #1 ranked Flint LM. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Immortals needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 2 victories and 1 lost games. Puthoff-King has a great season in United Cup. After only 3 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 12.3ppg (5th best), rebounds with 8.7rpg (3rd best) and assists with 5.3apg (best passer).
