Jason Cadee claims Australian NBL One Hoops Agents weekly honour - by Eurobasket News
The 31-year old guard got a double-double of 52 points and thirteen assists, while his team crushed Darwin S. (#7, 7-7) with 17-point margin 110-93. Gold Coast R. maintains the 2nd position in Australian NBL One. They are still close to the very top. Gold Coast R. would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 12-2 record. In the team's last game Cadee had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range and got nine three-pointers out of 14 attempts. He just recently signed at Gold Coast R., being already a very valuable addition to the team. Cadee has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 28.0ppg) and averages solid 52.7% FGP and 40.6% from behind 3-point line. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Sudanese swingman Makuach Maluachx (200-F/G-1998) of Darwin S.. Maluachx impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 40 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Darwin S. lost that game 93-110 to the higher-ranked Gold Coast R. (#2, 12-2). This loss caused Darwin S. to drop to 7th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 7-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Maluachx is one of the most experienced players at Darwin S. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. The third best performed player last round was Gavin Field (202-F/G-1989) of Cockburn C. (#10). Field showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, eight rebounds and ten assists (!!!) in the last round. He was a key player of Cockburn C., leading his team to a 117-97 easy win against the lower-ranked Mandurah M. (#14, 2-13). The chances of Cockburn C. ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 8 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Field could help Cockburn C. to bring them higher in the standings. Field has a very solid season. In 14 games in Australia he scored 15.4ppg. He also has 4.9rpg, 3.1apg, FGP: 54.1% and 3PT: 44.0%. Other top performing players last week: 4. C.J. Bobbitt (201-F/C-1997) of Mandurah M. - 35 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Caleb Davis (206-F-1995) of Warwick S. - 31 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists 10. Lee Roberts (203-F/C-1987) of East Perth E. - 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

CEBL round 5 best performance: Teddy Allen - by Eurobasket News
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds, while his team edged out Saskatchewan (#5, 2-3) 96-93. Winnipeg is placed at 2nd position in CEBL. They are still close to the very top. Winnipeg would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 4-1 record. In the team's last game Allen had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Winnipeg, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former New Mexico State University star has very solid stats this year. Allen is in league's top in points (2nd best: 24.8ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 11.4rpg) and averages impressive 2.2spg. The second best player in last round's games was young American Justin Wright-Foreman (183-PG-1997) of Saskatchewan. Wright-Foreman had a very good evening with 34 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as Saskatchewan was edged by the higher-ranked Winnipeg (#2, 4-1) 96-93. Saskatchewan managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-3 record. Wright-Foreman is one of the most experienced players at Saskatchewan and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Nick Ward (203-F-1997) of Vancouver (#7). Ward scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of Vancouver, leading his team to a 87-78 win against Niagara (2-4). The chances of Vancouver not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 4 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Ward could try to bring Vancouver's a little bit higher in the standings. Ward has individually a great season in CEBL. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.7ppg (9th best) and rebounds with 8.2rpg (8th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Christian Vital (188-G-1997) of Brampton - 27 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Deng Adel (201-F-1997) of Ottawa - 20 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists 6. LNB2 Round 8 of Regular Season - by Eurobasket News
Here is the last round review presented by Job Market. The most interesting game of round 8 in the LNB 2 was only two-point a home defeat of 6th ranked Aleman (2-5) to fifth ranked Municipal C. (3-4) 67-65. 27 personal fouls committed by Aleman helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of center Marko Castro (192-1988) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and forward Jordan Flores (-2002) who added 19 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) during the contest. Forward Renato Parra (-2003) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Municipal C. moved-up to third place, which they share with Truenos. Aleman lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Brisas. Municipal C. is looking forward to face Liceo Curico (#5) at home in the next round. Aleman will play against Tomas L. in San Fernando and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Santiago: Sergio Ceppi (#2) and Brisas (#6). Sergio Ceppi (5-2) smashed visiting Brisas (2-5) by 18 points 64-46. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Brisas. The winners were led by Boris Guerra (-1987) who scored that evening 20 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and Gabriel Gonzalez supported him with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Even 16 points and 6 rebounds by guard Felipe Oyarzun (187-1989) did not help to save the game for Brisas. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sergio Ceppi have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 5-2 record having just two point less than leader Liceo PN. Brisas at the other side keep the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Aleman. Sergio Ceppi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Stadio Italiano. Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Santiago: Stadio Italiano (#4) and Boston College (#7). The 23-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 15 rebounds, while his team beat Boston College (#7, 1-6) 78-72. Stadio Italiano is placed at 3rd position in Chilean LNB 2. In the team's last game Fernandez had a remarkable 53.8% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Stadio Italiano, through which he has constantly improved. Gaston Fernandez averages this season 10.7ppg and 5.9rpg. The second best player in last round's games was young Lucas Thiebaut (F-1999) of league's second-best Colo Colo. Colo Colo's second position in Zona Sur has not changed. His team lost just one game this season, while they won 6 matches. Thiebaut is one of the most experienced players at Colo Colo and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. Third on the list of top players last round was another Colo Colo's star - Martin Gomez. Gomez scored 28 points and grabbed five rebounds. He was another key player of Colo Colo, helping his team with a 86-56 easy win against the lower-ranked Liceo Curico (#5, 2-4). Colo Colo is closer and closer to top of the standings in Zona Sur. They will still need more victories. But 6-1 record is not that bad... Gomez has a great season in Chile. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.7ppg (2nd best) and assists with 5.0apg (5th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Pablo Laso, a two-time EuroLeague champ, becomes Bayern head coach - by Eurobasket News |
FC Bayern Munich has named Pablo Laso as the team's new head coach, with the 55-year-old Spaniard signing a contract at the club until the end of the 2024-25 season. This is Laso's first job since leaving Real Madrid, where he was in charge between 2011 and 2022 and won two Turkish Airlines EuroLeague titles. Under the stewardship of Laso, Los Blancos reached seven out of a possible 10 Final Fours. Bayern hopes that he will have a similar level of success in Munich. "He has tremendous experience, has celebrated great successes with Real Madrid and is one of the most recognized coaches in the EuroLeague," Bayern president Herbert Hainer said of Laso. "Now a new challenge awaits him at FC Bayern, and we are very happy that he believes in our vision." Laso arrives at Bayern as the replacement for Andrea Trinchieri , who parted ways with the club at the end of the 2022-23 season following three years in charge. Bayern made the playoffs in two of Trinchieri's three seasons at the helm, but each time it lost in Game 5, first to AX Armani Exchange Milan in 2020-21 and then to FC Barcelona in 2021-22. Those two playoff appearances are the only times that Bayern has competed in the postseason, and Laso is now tasked with trying to turn the German club into a perennial playoff team. After all, Laso already has experience in this regard, having helped shape the modern history of Real. When he joined Los Blancos in 2011, for example, they had last won the EuroLeague in 1995. Real lost back-to-back championship games in 2013 and 2014 under Laso, but in 2015 he guided the club to its ninth EuroLeague title. Then, Laso's Real became the European champion once again in 2018. In his final year on the Real bench, the 2021-22 campaign, Laso saw his team come up just short to Anadolu Efes Istanbul in the championship game. Bayern has a brand-new arena, SAP Garden, that is getting closer to completion with each day that passes, and the goal is that the arrival of Laso, in addition to this new arena, will help the German side reach new heights both domestically and in the EuroLeague. Bayern wants to become a major force in European basketball and, with Laso at the helm, the club will fancy its chances of making that reality. Courtesy of: euroleaguebasketball.net |

The Telekom Baskets Bonn Find The Ocean Again And Get Back On Track Demolishing ratiopharm Ulm 104-74 to even Finals Series 1-1 - by Miles Schmidt-Scheuber |
There is always a first time. Who would of thought that the Telekom Baskets Bonn couldn't master crunch-time in their own building in the 2022-2023 season? They had mowed down most of their opponents during the regular season, had extreme ease against the Niners Chemnitz and even against an aggressive and fighting squad from Ludwigsburg still it didn't seem like they would ever lose again at home this season. But beware ratiopharm ulm is for real. Many may be blinded by TJ Shorts eccentric hairdo and the dominance of the Telekom Baskets Bonn, but there is a reason why Ulm got by Germany's 2 most well-known teams Alba Berlin and FC Bayern Munich. In game 1, ratiopharm Ulm came to play and played an incredible game against Bonn showing that Bonn aren't invincible in their own living room. Everyone knew that he game 1 loss would have the Telekom Baskets Bonn thinking and everyone knew that Bonn wouldn't have another poor shooting night back to back again. Had they shot a little better in game 1 they probably would have won the game, because they ruled the boards. On a beautiful Sunday evening the two clubs came to battle again only 48 hours later and this time Bonn found the ocean again nailing 16 three's, sharing the ball around beautifully and just playing Telekom Baskets Bonn basketball as they demolished ratiopharm Ulm 104-74. 'We played with a lot more intensity. We simply did us. We focused on our identity for 40 minutes. We did what we do best with rebounding, limiting second chance points and limiting their transition', said Telekom Baskets Bonn forward Tyson Ward. Ratiopharm Ulm fell apart midway through the second quarter and that was that. They allowed the Telekom Baskets Bonn to play their game and played catch up the rest of the way. 'We didn't have the needed intensity. We didn't defend well, didn't move the ball well and didn't rebound well', stressed ratiopharm Ulm guard Thomas Klepeisz. It was a steam filled Telekom dome as the sauna like conditions were in full force as both teams played a high tempo to start, but one could sense that the Telekom Baskets Bonn had a totally different focus and their intensity was a lot higher than in game 1. Two rapid three's by Australian Finn Delany (200-PF-1995, college: SW Baptist) and ex Crailsheim guard Jeremy Morgan was an early indication that Bonn had their sniper qualities in full force again. The game was tight as ratiopharm ulm got 2 vital three's by Klepeisz to stay close trailing only 12-10. easyCredit BBL MVP TJ Shorts missed one shot early and was slowed down well, but Bonn had enough other guys step up as American Javontae Hawkins, ex Trier guard Sebastian Herrea scored easy lay ins and Delany made a tip in for the Bonn 19-13 advantage. Ulm had problems staying consistent at the free throw line and Bonn just kept playing under control and executing in fine fashion as Herrea dropped a trey and Shorts remained patient and picked his spots well and made a lay in for the 26-16 lead after 10 minutes. The Telekom Baskets Bonn were shooting at a solid rate of 50% from the field and 45% from outside while ratiopharm Ulm was at 42% from the field and 29% from outside. Bonn also controlled the boards 10-6 and had 4 offensive rebounds. 'Bonn had a lot more energy than in game 1. Their game 1 jitters were totally gone now. I think game 1 was one of their worst games this season. They finally began to hit shots and were defending with a higher intensity', stated NCAA 2 most three point shots made in a game with 16 Markus Hallgrimson. In the second quarter ratiopharm Ulm shocked Bonn with an annoying run, but in the last 5 minutes, Bonn returned with their punch which ultimately put the game near out of reach. But in the first few minutes, it didn't look anything like a Bonn romp through the dome. Instead it was ratiopharm ulm, that found to their game at both ends and erupted with a tantalizing 10-0 run and suddenly the game was dead locked at 26-26. 5 minutes had elapsed and the Telekom Baskets Bonn had been stopped 7 times. With every new stop, Ulm gained more confidence as they had buckled down on defense and made the decision making a lot harder for Bonn with aggressive defense and made big plays as Robin Christen made a massive block on Tyson Ward. Christen is one of many on the Ulm squad that just does his job and doesn't complain. 'He is really smart and knows the game well. He plays his role well and just knows when to shoot and when not to. He definitely has found his role in the BBL', warned Markus Hallgrimson. In the run Ulm received vital support from German Karim Jallow who played NBA Summer League in 2022 as he had 7 points. He showed his athleticism as always and his versatility making a lay in and three pointer. Christen added a trey for good measure after his block. Bonn finally got on the board for the first time getting a reverse lay in from Jeremy Morgan at the 5,21 minute mark and Bonn led 28-26. Basketball is always a game of runs and the Telekom Baskets Bonn demonstrated it best outscoring Ulm 17-3 to lead 45-29 at the break. Bonn has showed so often this year once they have their game flowing, it is almost impossible to stop. Bonn shared the ball around well as Morgan added 4 more points and sniper Sebastian Herrea added a trey while Finn Delany supplied key support with 6 points. TJ Shorts added a mid distance bank shot. Bonn was like a runaway train and Ulm had no resources to stop them. The Telekom Baskets Bonn were shooting ok, but not great at 42% from the field and 39% from the three point line while ratiopharm Ulm was at 31% from the field and 24% from the three point line, but it was the dominance on the boards that allowed them extra possessions as they had 10 offensive rebounds. 'Bench was key and Bonn played smarter and faster. Finn Delany also gave them a big push. He had been a little hesitant in game 1, but he looked like a new player. Bonn was deep and athletic and showed they could do it without TJ Shorts", stated Markus Hallgrimson. In the third quarter the Telekom Baskets Bonn were able to not shift up one gear but two more gears exploding for 30 points and putting the contest totally out of reach leading by an incredible 31 points after 3 quarters. Bonn began the third quarter well going on a 7-3 run to extend their lead to 54-32. In the run, they got a sweet alley-oop dunk from Leon Kratzer, a floater from Delany and three from ex Wurzburg American Tyson Ward. Ulm added a three pointer by ex NBA player Bruno Caboclo. Then Bonn center Michael Kessens was handed a disqualifying foul that had the dome on fire with a mad roar of fans and one would of thought this scene could change the tide of the game, but instead Bonn seemed to use that as a motivation charge and just kept executing their offense going on a 10-2 run to lead 64-36. In the run, Bonn got added support from the long ball getting three's from Delaney and ex Augusta University (NCAA2) forward Deane Williams while Ward made a lay in for the 64-36 Bonn advantage. Bonn had found their shooting stroke and had consistency while Ulm got nothing easy on offense and had too work for every shot. Bonn continued to own the boards as Ulm couldn't match their intensity or physicality. Down the stretch Ulm got some buckets from ex NBA player Brandon Paul getting an incredible pass from 19 year phenom Jose Nunez as he made the perfect ball reversal and a lay in from Montenegrin forward Fedor Zugic, but they just couldn't produce stops. 'Juan has a good eye. It is really nice to watch him pass the ball', said Robin Christen. Bonn added lay in's by Herrera and a floater from Shorts and another three from Delaney to lead 75-44 after 30 minutes. 'We continued to hit three's. We didn't want to get emotional but just kept honing in on our identity. We trusted each other as shots kept falling', added Tyson Ward. 'We didn't play defense the way we wanted to. Bonn punished us every time we made a mistake. We didn't rebound well. We have to do a better job fighting for the rebound', stated Robin Christen. Bonn continued to shoot well over 40% from the field and the parking lot while Ulm was at 32% from the field and 29% from the parking lot. Bonn also continued to control the boards well at 33-19. In the fourth quarter Ratiophram Ulm finally showed offensively what they are capable of scorching the Telekom Baskets Bonn for 31 points, but you can't make a dent in the score when you allow the opponent to score 29 points. The Telekom Baskets Bonn began getting good support from giant Leon Kratzer who scored twice as his teammates were making him shine while TJ Shorts made a floater. It is a real delight to watch the diminutive guard slide through the cracks and make Ulm wonder play after play how does one stop this guy as it is impossible in a 40 minute game. With the game more than decided ratiopharm ulm head coach Anton Gavel used his bench inserting 212cm German hulk Nicolas Bretzel and he wasted no time making a pretty left handed hook shot, free throw and dishing out a dime to Jallow. But the Telekom Baskets Bonn continued to execute at ease getting an exciting Jeremy Morgan bank shot three as the shot clock buzzer erupted as well as a Delany dunk and Shorts left handed lay in as ratiopharm Ulm still had a steep climb back trailing 89-58. Now the game showcased little defense as fans saw an offensive show. Deane Williams found his special perch in the left corner and would drill home three more three's as Bonn had to have given Gavel a lot to think about how they are going to stop the raining of three's in the next 2 games in Ulm. Williams continued to show that he is one of many special role players in the lineup for Tuomas Iisalo. 'Deane is a big time scorer. He has so much length and athleticism. His three pointer spaces out the defense. He is a big time player', warned Tyson Ward. Both coaches went to their bench one last time in the last minute letting young Germans Zach Ensminger who scored 3 free throws and David Fuchs who will attend the University of Rhode Island this fall record a bucket. 'The only positive thing for us in the fourth quarter was the play of Nicolas Bretzel. He had been injured for a long time. He could become important for us', warned Robin Christen. The Telekom Baskets Bonn had 5 guys in double figures and were led by Finn Delany with 23 points. Sebastian Herrera added 17 points and TJ Shorts 16 points and 9 assists while ratiopharm ulm were led by Karim Jallow with 17 points. The Telekom Baskets Bonn shot 53% from the field, and 46% from outside and had 39 rebounds and 10 turnovers while ratiopharm ulm shot 43% from the field and 34% from outside and had 27 rebounds and 16 turnovers. |

Ellis' double-double lands him Player of the Week award - by Eurobasket News
He had a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds, while his team edged out Bumi Borneo (#7, 13-13) 61-59. Rans Pik is placed at 5th position in Indonesian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Rans Pik will need more victories to improve their 17-9 record. In the team's last game Ellis had a remarkable 61.5% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Rans Pik, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Akeem Ellis averages this season 14.6ppg and 9.6rpg. Second best performed player last round was Cameron Ridley (206-C/F-1993) of Bumi Borneo. He is American in his first season at Bumi Borneo. In the last game Ridley recorded impressive double-double of 24 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Bumi Borneo was edged by slightly higher-ranked Rans Pik (#5, 17-9) 61-59. Bumi Borneo managed to keep the same 7th spot in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 13-13 record is not bad and everything may still change. Ridley is one of the most experienced players at Bumi Borneo and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. Third place about best performers goes to Cameron Coleman (198-SF-1992, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) of Bima Perkasa (#6). Coleman scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Despite Coleman's great performance Bima Perkasa lost 60-70 to the lower-ranked Evos Bogor (#13, 8-18). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Bima Perkasa needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 17 victories and 10 lost games. Coleman has a great season in Indonesia. After 27 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.2ppg (8th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Sevly Rondonuwu (173-PG-1996) of WBS - 28 points and 3 rebounds 5. Dominique Sutton (193-G/F-1986) of Pelita Jaya - 20 points and 15 rebounds 6. Andre Jackson (199-F-1994) of Evos Bogor - 17 points and 10 rebounds 7. Jarred Shaw (211-C-1990) of Prawira - 17 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Yudha Saputera (176-PG-1998) of Prawira - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Ngurah Wisnu Budidharma (180-SG-1990) of Bumi Borneo - 11 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists 10. Padre Hosbach (193-C-1997) of Evos Bogor - 8 points and 5 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.

Sources: Heat's Tyler Herro to attempt return for Game 5 - by Eurobasket News |
Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro (6'5''-SG-2000, college: Kentucky), who was officially upgraded to questionable Monday, is expected to dress and attempt to play in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, sources told ESPN. Herro has been out since April 16, when he broke his right hand in Game 1 of the Heat's first-round series against the Milwaukee Bucks. He's still experiencing a level of discomfort in the surgically repaired hand but is hopeful to try to give the Heat what he can with the team trailing 3-1 to the Denver Nuggets, sources said. Herro has been the Heat's second-leading scorer this season, averaging 20.1 points while converting on 203 3-pointers in the regular season. The Heat can certainly use that production as their starting backcourt of Gabe Vincent and Max Strus are shooting 29% from 3 so far in the Finals. Courtesy of: espn.com |
Sources: Raptors' Fred VanVleet nixes option, to become free agent - by Eurobasket News |
In the first major domino of free agency, Toronto Raptors All-Star guard Fred VanVleet (6'0''-PG-1994, college: Wichita St.) has declined his $22.8 million player option and will become an unrestricted free agent in July, sources told ESPN on Monday. VanVleet hasn't ruled out negotiating a new deal and a Raptors return, sources said, but he becomes one of the most prominent guards in the marketplace and an immediate target of teams with cap space and several contenders who'd welcome discussions on sign-and-trade scenarios with Toronto, sources said. There are teams with and without salary cap space who'll have the mechanisms to pursue VanVleet, who has consistently shown himself to be a lead guard with the capacity to impact winning for the Raptors. There were several contending teams who discussed VanVleet trade deadline deals with the Raptors. Those conversations could be revisited in free agency. VanVleet, 29, has played his entire seven-year NBA career with the Raptors, where he played an immense part in the franchise's 2019 NBA championship run. VanVleet averaged 19.3 points and a career-best 7.2 assists last season, ranking in the Top 10 in assists-to-turnover ratio. VanVleet had six 25-point, 10-assist games last season -- the most in a season by a Toronto player since Damon Stoudamire in 1996-1997, per ESPN Stats & Information research. VanVleet ranked third in the NBA in steals (1.8) and first in deflections per game, according to ESPN Stats & Information. His standing in Raptors history has been impactful. He's one of two players (with Kyle Lowry) to have 1,000 3-pointers. He's also one of two players to have a franchise's single-game record for points and assists -- along with Wilt Chamberlain and the 76ers, per ESPN Stats & information. Over the past three seasons, VanVleet has averaged 37.1 minutes a game -- second most in the NBA only behind his teammate Pascal Siakam. In fact, VanVleet led the NBA in miles covered per game in each of the past three seasons, per Second Spectrum tracking data. Courtesy of: espn.com |
Denver Nuggets earn first NBA title, stop Miami Heat in Game 5 - by Eurobasket News |
The Denver Nuggets won their first NBA title on Monday night, defeating the Miami Heat 94-89 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Nikola Jokic (7'0''-C-1995) scored 28 points to lead the Nuggets, who won the best-of-seven series 4-1. It was the team's first NBA title in 47 years in the league. The Nuggets were league runners-up in 1976 when they played in the old ABA. Denver rallied from a 51-44 halftime deficit to take the lead in the fourth quarter and held off the Heat down the stretch to clinch the title in front of the home crowd at Ball Arena. Miami fought back gamely, taking an 89-88 lead. But Bruce Brown (6'5''-SG-1996, college: Miami, FL)'s basket with 1:13 remaining in regulation gave the Nuggets the lead for good. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (6'5''-G-1993, college: Georgia) made a pair of free throws with 24 seconds to play to give the Nuggets a three-point lead. Brown added two more free throws 10 seconds later to give Denver a 94-89 lead. Michael Porter Jr. had 16 points for the Nuggets and Jamal Murray (6'4''-SG-1997, college: Kentucky) added 14. Jimmy Butler (6'7''-G/F-1989, college: Marquette) led Miami with 21 points. Bam Adebayo (6'10''-C-1997, college: Kentucky) scored 20. Best players of New Zealand NBL round 10 - by Eurobasket News
The 31-year old power forward had a double-double of 30 points and fifteen rebounds, while his team beat Bulls (#4, 8-4) 100-87. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Tuatara to jump to the first place in the New Zealand NBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Tuatara has a very solid 9-3 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Loe just recently signed at Tuatara, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Saint Louis University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Loe is in league's top in points (8th best: 20.7ppg), assists (8th best: 4.5apg) and averages solid 2.7bpg,2.2spg and 62.4% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard Jeremy Kendle (186-G-1988) of Sharks. Kendle impressed basketball fans with 45 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Bad luck as Sharks lost that game 93-103 to the lower-ranked Airs (#10, 3-8). Sharks managed to keep the same 6th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-7 record. Kendle is one of the most experienced players at Sharks and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.2ppg (#1). He also recorded 9.3 assists per game. The third best performed player last round was American Ira Lee (203-F-1998) of Hawks (#7). Lee got into 30-points club by scoring 32 points in the last round. He went also for twelve rebounds . Despite Lee's great performance Hawks lost 99-100 to the higher-ranked Bulls (#4, 8-4). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Hawks not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 8 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Lee could try to bring Hawks' a little bit higher in the standings. Lee has individually a great season in New Zealand. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.9rpg (6th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Callum McRae (216-C-1999) of Giants - 26 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Carlin Davison (196-G-2003) of Airs - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists 6. Javion Blake (191-G-1997) of Jets - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists 7. Jarrad Weeks (183-G-1989) of Tuatara - 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists 8. Danny Pippen (206-F-1997) of Jets - 31 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Daniel Fotu (203-F-1999) of Bulls - 19 points, 16 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Matur Maker (208-C-1998) of Giants - 20 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.

BSN Round 40: Grises defeat Vaqueros - by Eurobasket News
There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in BSN. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market. The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Vaqueros (22-12) in Bayamon on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Grises (13-21) 108-91. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Vaqueros. Grises shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 62.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman James Ennis (201-1990, college: LBSU) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. The other American import point guard Travis Trice II (183-1993, college: Michigan St.) contributed with 17 points and 11 assists for the winners. The former international Javier Mojica (189-1984, college: CCSU) replied with 33 points (!!!) for Vaqueros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Grises moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Fajardo. Defending champion Vaqueros still keep top position with 12 games lost. Grises is looking forward to face higher ranked Indios (#4) in Mayaguez in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Vaqueros will play on the road against the league's leader Piratas in Quebradillas and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Very important is a road loss of third ranked Gigantes (17-17) against fourth ranked Cangrejeros (18-17) on Sunday night. Visiting Gigantes were defeated by Cangrejeros in a tough game in Santurce 86-90. Worth to mention a great performance of DR Congolese guard Emmanuel Mudiay (196-1996) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Kenneth Faried who added 14 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side international point guard Tremont Waters (180-1998, college: LSU, agency: Shark Sports Management) responded with 19 points and 8 assists. Gigantes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cangrejeros moved-up to third place which they share with defeated Gigantes. Gigantes at the other side keep the third position with 17 games lost. They share it with Arecibo. Cangrejeros will play against Capitanes (#3) in Arecibo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gigantes will play on the road against the league's second-placed Mets in Guaynabo and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Very important is a road loss of second ranked Mets (20-15) against fifth ranked Leones (15-19) on Monday night. Visiting Mets were defeated by Leones in Juana Diaz 96-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mets. The winners were led by Jamil Wilson who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Even a double-double of 20 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals by Gary Browne did not help to save the game for Mets. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Leones have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 15-19 record. Loser Mets keep the second place with 15 games lost. Leones will meet Cariduros (#5) in the next round. Mets will play against Gigantes and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Other games in round 40 were not that significant. Quebradillas beat Fajardo on the road 97-87. Mayaguez destroyed Manati on its own court 118-86. Quebradillas managed to outperform Arecibo in a road game 110-104. The most impressive performance of 40th round was 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists by Brandon Knight of Quebradillas.
Fajardo - Quebradillas 87-97 No shocking result in a game when first ranked Piratas (23-11) beat 5th ranked Cariduros (13-21) in Fajardo 97-87 on Saturday. Piratas made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Even 23 points by guard Archie Goodwin (196-1994, college: Kentucky) did not help to save the game for Cariduros. Forward Eric Griffin (203-1990, college: Campbell) added 17 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Piratas maintains first position with 23-11 record. Loser Cariduros keep the fifth place with 21 games lost. Capitals' offense missing in elimination game - by Eurobasket News |
Heading into Tuesday's decisive Game 3 between the Salem Capitals and Seattle Super Hawks, the two teams had played six consecutive games decided by one possession, but a slow start and the second lowest point total of the season for the Capitals brought their season to an end. The Capitals never led in the 109-96 loss, though they were able to close the gap and tie the game throughout. The 96 points is the lowest from Salem since Feb. 24, the second game of the season where they lost 134-86 at Newfoundland. Allen Billinger (5'11''-PG-1997, college: Drury) Jr. and Preston Whitfield (6'1''-G-1997, college: CBC), the team's leading and third leading scorers, combined for just 15 points on 3-for-17 shooting. The two had averaged nearly 40 points combined during the season, but Tuesday was a different story. All six of Whitefield's points came from the free throw line as he shot 0-for-5 from the field. Isaiah Gentry (6'4''-G-1998, college: Vanguard) had a team-high 26 points for the Capitals on 50% shooting from the floor. Meanwhile Mauricio Smith (6'5''-F-1999, college: Corban) was one rebound shy of his second straight double-double for the Capitals with 16 points and nine rebounds. For the Super Hawks, Alphonso Anderson (6'6''-F, college: Pacific) had his way inside again. The Capitals' postseason run had been marred by an inability to stop their opponents inside, being outscored 206-102 through three games. Anderson came away with a double double, with 23 points and 13 rebounds. In game 2, Anderson had 38 points in the losing effort. The Super Hawks shot 93% from the free throw line, and outrebounded the Capitals 53-42. Seattle, the top-ranked team in the West, will now play Long Beach in the Western Finals. He had a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds, while his team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team 25 de Agosto (#9, 0-1) with 19-point margin 78-59. Thanks to this victory Larranaga moved-up to the 3rd position in Uruguayan Metropolitan. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Larranaga won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Foreman just recently signed at Larranaga and it was his first game, where he immediately became new team's leader. Saint Louis University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Foreman is in league's top in points (6th best: 24.0ppg), rebounds (4th best: 13.0rpg) and averages solid 3.0spg. Second best performed player last round was Karachi Edo (196-F-1994) of top-ranked Capitol. He is American forward in his first season at Capitol. In the last game Edo recorded impressive double-double of 22 points and 19 rebounds. Of course Capitol cruised to a 84-74 relatively comfortable win over Welcome (0-1). Edo is one of the most experienced players at Capitol and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.0ppg (#9). He also registered 19.0 boards per game. Former Fresno State University star Edo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Third place about best performers goes to guard Damian Blazina (186-G-1988) of Miramar (#4). Blazina showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Miramar, leading his team to a 80-76 win against Stockolmo (#12, 0-1). Miramar has a very good start of the season. But there was just one game played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Blazina also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. The season just started for Blazina as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader. Other top performing players last week: 4. Chitlango's double-double lands her Player of the Week award - by Eurobasket News
Siphiwe Chitlango put on an amazing game in the last round for league's best team Soweto P. and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7. She had a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds, while her team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team NC Zebras (#5, 0-1) with 26-point margin 76-50. It allowed Soweto P. to take over top position in the South African WBNL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Soweto P. has a very solid 3-1 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Chitlango just recently signed at Soweto P., being already a very valuable addition to the team. Chitlango has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (5th best: 14.8ppg), rebounds (8th best: 10.8rpg), assists (6th best: 3.0apg) and averages solid 3.0spg. Second best performed player last round was Rachel Ngona of M.Rhinos. She is a in her first (recently joined) season at M.Rhinos. In the last game Ngona recorded impressive double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds. It was enough for M.Rhinos to edge slightly higher-ranked Tshwane S. (#3, 1-1) by 6 points 43-37. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group A. M.Rhinos consolidated its place in top 4 of the standings. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 1-2 record. Ngona is one of the most experienced players at M.Rhinos and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.3ppg (#4). She also registered 9.0 boards per game. Third place about best performers goes to Mamotsoari Mofokeng of NC Zebras (#5). Mofokeng scored 22 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Mofokeng's great performance NC Zebras lost 50-76 to the higher-ranked Soweto P. (#1, 3-1). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. The season just started for Mofokeng as she played only first game. But it already looks like she can be team's leader. Other top performing players last week: 4. Monicah Tlou (175-F-1996) of Soweto P. - 17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Monalisa Maphumulo) of Soweto P. - 13 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Charmaine Amoda) of Tshwane S. - 4 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Medi Kimasi) of Soweto P. - 9 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The 22-year old forward had a double-double of 23 points and twelve rebounds, while her team edged out Valkyrie (#8, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 71-69. It allowed Phoenix to consolidate first place in the WPBA. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Phoenix won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Decosta had a remarkable 54.5% from 2-point range. She just recently signed at Phoenix and just after two games she already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Sacramento State University graduate has very impressive stats this year.
